This December, Ford has slashed prices for its various models including the recently launched Fiesta. The Chennai-based American automaker is offering discounts of upto Rs 75,000 on the Fiesta.

Ford’s Discover Smart Drive in the Figo traversed through cities, engaged participants, generated excitement for fans, promoted carbon neutral journey and in return created memories worth a lifetime for participants and their fans. 

Ford India, which just launched the All-New Fiesta, sold 71,347 wholesale and export vehicles from January to July 2011, compared to 49,131 units sold during the same period last year – a 45 percent increase year-over-year. 

The Chevrolet Beat diesel comes with a three-pot engine that displaces 936cc churning 58.5bhp of power and 150nm of torque. Most of the equipment on the Beat diesel remains the same except for the fact that it will be the first Chevrolet in India to get electronic power steering. Ford announced that they would be hiking the price of the figo by 1%. Currently available in petrol and diesel variants, the Figo has been for the past year Ford's best selling product. The price hike announcement comes after following the imapct of rising commodity prices and will be effective this month onwards.

Ford India's Maraimalainagar Nagar engine facility rolled out its 100,000th engine this month. The company achieved this milestone was achieved just 14 months after the engine plant opened for operations in January 2010. The plant has the capacity to produce 250,000 engines per year.

Ford India achieved a 188% increase in sales with the hatchback leading from the front.  Ford sold a total of 9,293 vehicles this February compared to 3,223 in 2010. Having already sold in 76000 units of the Figo since its launch, the company is looking to capitalise on the immense popularity it has achieved.

Ford India has sold 10,026 units sold in the first month of 2011 against 2453 units sold over the same period last year. The closest the company got to the 10,000 mark was in March 2010 and now they have surpassed this magical figure as well. The Ford Figo itself contributed to sales of 8,600 units in January.

The much loved and ever appreciated Ford Figo has already and steadily gathered a pile of awards to its name. Beginning with the Car of the Year award, the Figo was the frontrunner in helping Ford to win the 'Manufacturer of the Year' award. More than 60,000 Figos have been sold since March and Ford India recorded an impressive annual sales increase of 184% as compared to 2009.

The year 2010 ended on a high for the Automobile Industry in India and the fact that there were more than 50 launches throughout the year in different segments shows the kind of interest car manufacturers are taking into bringing their products in the market. Society of Indian Automobiles (SIAM), in its yearly report mentioned that the Indian car market grew by 32.69 % in 2010.
