Fiat has silently revealed that the company has made large profits due the engine exports made to China and the high demand for its diesel engine locally as well as in the European markets. As reports suggest, Fiat has earned a profit of Rs 269 crore since 2012 for the six months ending March 2013.

In India, the Freelander has only two competitiors-the Volvo XC60 and the Mitsubishi Montero at Rs 40.50 lakh and Rs 41 lakh respectively. At Rs 39.20 lakh,the Freelander is cheaper than a lakh as compared to the XC60 and more than Rs 2 lakh than the Montero. But it is not appalling news that the baby Land Rover is cheaper, it always has been the stepping stone into the British marque’s range worldwide. Will this change? Are we in for a surprise, well maybe?

The official Audi Sport Facebook page has posted a picture of the 2014 R18 e-tron. The car will be the manufacturer’s entry for the 2014 FIA World Endurance Championship season and the Le Mans 24 Hours. Last week, Audi had posted a teaser in the form of a photo of Tom Kristensen next to a covered LMP1 car. Also a glimpse of the car was shown at the end of the 2013 FIA WEC season highlights video from Audi, which was released on YouTube.

The seventh generation Corvette (codenamed C7) when launched earlier this year resurrected the ‘Stingray’ moniker after nearly four decades. A new Corvette for a new generation of petrol heads, it has been given many improvements over its predecessor and among the many changes, the C7 gets an all-new eight speed Automatic Transmission. As per a technical paper published by Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) the gearbox is codenamed 8L90 and will send power to the rear wheels.

The 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show was largely dominated by the Jaguar C-X17 SUV concept as well as the announcement of a new ‘baby’ Jag which will slot in beneath the XF. Codenamed X760, the saloon will compete with mid-ranking cars in the BMW 3 Series and Audi A4 ranges. Jaguar has plans to beat Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz at their own game by launching four new models by 2018.The all-aluminium saloon will be joined by an estate, an SUV and possibly a hatchback in the style of BMW’s GT models.

Jaguar will start testing the four-cylinder engines, built in-house, next year. We can expect the 2015 Jaguar cars to be powered by these engines.

It’s no secret that Fiat’s European businesses have been in the red for quite sometime now. The company has turned its attention to these plants to boost sales of its luxury models. Bloomberg has quoted sources saying that Fiat SpA (F) may invest as much as USD 12.3 billion (Rs 75,217 crore) on new models to end their losses in the European sector and revive their nearly empty Italian factories.
