Ford India is organising The Great Endeavour Drive this weekend on 5th and 6th Novermber at Exhibition Ground, Sector 34, Chandigarh.

Ford India's Maraimalainagar Nagar engine facility rolled out its 100,000th engine this month. The company achieved this milestone was achieved just 14 months after the engine plant opened for operations in January 2010. The plant has the capacity to produce 250,000 engines per year.

Ford India has sold 10,026 units sold in the first month of 2011 against 2453 units sold over the same period last year. The closest the company got to the 10,000 mark was in March 2010 and now they have surpassed this magical figure as well. The Ford Figo itself contributed to sales of 8,600 units in January.

After the Ford Figo (read road test) won the ICOTY (India Car of the Year) Award in December 2010 (read post here), the hatch continued Fords success story by winning four Bloomberg UTV Autocar Awards. The Figo was awarded 'Car of the Year Award 2011', 'Value for Money Car 2011' and 'Premium Compact Car'. Beside these it also won the 'Viewers Choice – Car of the Year 2011'.  

Ford recorded an annual sales increase of 184 percent this year. From January to December 2010, the Company sold 83, 887 units and nearly tripled it salesvolume against a total of 29,488 cars sold in 2009.Ford India's year-on-year December sales were up 172 per cent compared to December 2009. This December Ford Figo was selected the `Indian Car of the Year 2011' by a leading jury ofautomobile journalists after comprehensive testing.

Ford India sold a total of 7,504 units in November versus 2,520 units sold in November last year thus registering a 198% per cent increase compared to November 2009. From January to November 2010, the company sold 79,586 units, an increase of 185%, compared to a total of 27,906 units for the same period last year.

Ford India registered its second highest sales month this year, selling 9,026 units an increase of 161% from October 2009. Ford India had sold 3458 units the same month last year. From January to October 2010 the company sold 72,078 units, an increase of 183% over the 25,386 units sold during the same period in 2009.

Hyundai Motor India Ltd. has just launched the SantaFe, their luxury SUV, in the Indian market. This will be their most premium offering in the country and is a technology showcase for the company. The SantaFe is a seven seater and is powered by a 2.2litre (2199cc), four cylinder, DOHC (16Valve), CRDi engine with an Electrically controlled Variable geometry Turbo for better acceleration and improved in-gear response times.

Ford India has reported a 237 percent jump in sales in the first half of the current financial year (April – September) compared to last year, with total sales of 47,902 vehicles, more than triple the 14,209 sales made in April-September 2009.  In addition, Ford enjoyed another good sales month in September with 8,380 unit sales recorded. This is up 146 percent compared to the 3,405 sales reported in September 2009.

Ford India tripled sales in August. It sold 7,925 vehicles this month, a 220 percent increase compared to August 2009. Ford India has sold 54,676 vehicles in India so far this year, a 195 % increase compared to January – August in 2009. The Ford Figo remains at the top of the sales charts with more than 34,000 bookings recorded in the 25 weeks since it was introduced. As well as its domestic success, the Figo is also in demand overseas.
