British luxury carmaker Bentley has taken the covers off its Mulsanne-based Hybrid Concept at the ongoing Beijing Auto Show. Joining the fray of ever-growing carmakers who are taking the green route, Bentley says it has envisioned a more powerful and even more efficient future for its model line-up with the Hybrid Concept.

Mahindra and Mahindra have finally confirmed that their new manufacturing facility in Cheyyar, Tamil Nadu, will be operational from 2015-16. The upcoming compact SUV codenamed S101 is expected to be manufactured from this plant.
Apart from the flashy cars and only-for-China cars, there is also something that interests the Indian market at the Beijing Auto Show. It is the Audi A3 sedan. The Audi A3 sedan has been launched at the ongoing auto show, ahead of its official production at the new Foshan plant. Branded ‘A3 Limousine’, it comes in two variants, priced at 279,800 yuan (Rs 27.08 lakh) and 334,300 yuan (Rs 32.36 lakh).
Skoda is picking up the pace in China as it continues with its aggressive model campaign which mainly focuses on expanding locally produced models. The brand, which already produces the Rapid, the Fabia and the Superb in China, has revealed that it is set to double the range to six locally produced models. It will do so by introducing the Rapid Spaceback, a new version of the Yeti and the all-important Octavia.
Ford has unveiled the production model of the Escort compact sedan at the Beijing Auto Show, reviving the moniker which was last seen in 2002. Based on the Ford Escort Concept, which was shown at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show, the car was jointly developed by Ford's Australia-based Asia Pacific design team and Ford Research and Engineering Center in Nanjing, China.
Mercedes-Benz took the wraps off the long wheelbase (LWB) version of its new 2015 C-Class at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show. The LWB C-Class called the 260L is made exclusively for China and gets an additional 59mm added to its wheelbase. The vehicle is designed to take on its stretched- for- China rivals like the BMW 3 Series, the Audi A4L and the Volvo S60L. The C-Class Long wheelbase though looks very similar to the regular model and the added length is believed to be noticeable only from the inside.
BMW has officially unveiled the Vision Future Luxury Concept at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show. The concept is an elegant evolution of !the BMW Gran Lusso Coupe concept, which was showcased at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, last year. The Vision Future Luxury Concept gives us a glimpse of BMW’s new design language which will heavily influence the rumoured all-new flagship sedan, the 9 Series.
In a bid to resolve the standoff with workers, Toyota India has waived off the “good conduct” agreement provided they join from Monday. Karnataka state government on Saturday issued a statement asking workers to resume work on Monday, April 21, and also directed the Japanese car maker eliminate the “good conduct agreement.
Japanese car maker Toyota may be hopeful that its two manufacturing facilities in Bidadi, Karnataka can now start normal production. The state government, yesterday, had directed Toyota’s workers to resume work Monday onwards, failing which the company is authorised to employ new staff.
Lewis Hamilton took lights to flag victory at the 2014 Chinese Grand Prix. Remaining seemingly unchallenged right from free practice sessions on Friday he crossed the finish line ahead of his teammate Nico Rosberg allowing Mercedes to claim their third one-two finish of the season (so far). The Ferrari of Fernando Alonso took third place claiming the Scarlet team’s first podium of the season. While it rained quite heavily all of Saturday, the race on Sunday was held in dry conditions but with cloudy skies.
