Ssangyong has finally taken the wraps off its new crossover concept, the XLV, at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. The XLV or eXciting Smart Lifestyle Vehicle is a seven-seater SUV based on the 2011 XIV-1 concept and will spawn off production models for both Mahindra and Ssangyong. The testing mules of the car have been spotted quite a few times in India and China and we expect the car to be launched by 2015.

Tata Motors, unveiled the Zest sedan at the Geneva Motor Show yesterday. The Zest is a built-for-India vehicle which has dimensions dictated by the governing authorities to avail of the excise benefits. The Bolt hatchback is definitely headed for Europe, but this might be the first time an Indian manufacturer may have decided to sell an under four-metre sedan there.

Indian car major Tata Motors unveiled the Tata Bolt hatchback at the Geneva Motor Show, yesterday. Recently, a Tata Bolt was spotted testing with camouflage which raised speculations that it could be a European model with a different fascia. And much to our amusement, Tata showed the same car that we saw at the Expo this year.

The German car maker’s first attempt at a transverse engine, front-wheel-drive layout will compete with the Mercedes-Benz B-Class. Apple has unveiled its new CarPlay infotainment system at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. The company, in a release, has said that the infotainment system is ‘smarter and safer way to use an iPhone in the car’. The system will be offered by a variety of manufacturers including Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Mitsubishi, Nissan, GM, Peugeot Citroen, Subaru, Suzuki and Toyota.

Volkswagen has displayed the 2014 Volkswagen Polo at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. Though it was unveiled online before, this is the first public appearance of the new Volkswagen. Jaguar has announced that its new premium sports sedan will be called the XE. The new sedan will rival the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, BMW 3 Series and Audi A4 and be pitted in the entry level sports sedan category. This will be the first car to be powered by a new engine family called Ingenium and will be underpinned by a new aluminium monocoque that was unveiled with the C-X17 crossover.

Mahindra has launched a new initiative called Sankalp, as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR). The CSR campaign was launched today at the Bandra-Worli-Sea-link in the presence of BK Upadhyay (Jt.commissioner traffic dept) and Qaiser Khalid (ACP traffic dept). Through this initiative the Indian vehicle manufacturer plans to provide better safety equipment to traffic cops across Mumbai. The launch has happened today to coincide with the National Safety Day which falls on March 4 in India.
