Chevrolet had unveiled the Sail hatchback at the Auto Expo 2012 and the company had spoken about its plan to introduce the hatchback by the end of 2012. The Sail is the first GM car that is designed and developed completely in China. This has helped GM to bring down its development cost. The Sail gets the new Chevrolet family design cues like the bold and modern hood with a high crown and prominent strakes led by a large bowtie Chevrolet logo.

Chevrolet sold 4.76 million vehicles around the world in 2011 setting a global sales record and driving General Motors Co. global sales to more than 9 million vehicles, a 7.6 percent gain compared with 2010.

In 2011, we did witness that most of the best-selling cars were recently launched. The older generation cars weren't the best sellers. Even if they were, the sales of the same product in 2011, was lower when compared to the figures of 2010.
