The Indian automakers are on a roll as car manufacturers like Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai have recorded an all time high overall sales (which includes domestic sales and export).  Tata Motors, Fiat India, Toyota Kirloskar, Mercedes-Benz and General Motors sales figures too jumped up by a huge margin.

Hike in Excise Duty will Lead to Increase in Vehicle Price: Industry

The Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee's 2010-11 budget has led to mixed reactions from the industry. Earlier in the day, the minister had announced a 2% hike in excise duty on large cars, SUVs and multi utility vehicles taking the excise duty from 8% to 10%.

Excise Cut on Electric Cars
