In 2012, the Audi R8 LMS ultra will succeed the successful R8 LMS GT3 sports car with which R8 LMS customers have won 115 races and 12 national and international titles in the space of just three years. 

The drama at the 79th edition of the world’s most famous endurance could hardly be surpassed. After Audi had lost two of its Audi R18 TDI cars as early as in the first third of the race due to accidents all hopes were pinned on car number “2” that had secured the pole position in qualifying for Audi. For 16 hours Fässler, Lotterer and Tréluyer were on their own in the battle against three factory-fielded Peugeot cars that left no stone unturned to keep Audi from taking victory.

Audi delivered 1611 cars in India between January to March 2011. Sales for the first quarter exceeded 50% of the total number of cars sold last year. Sales figures for the month of March 2011 alone stood at 681 cars with a growth of 210%.

Audi India clocked sales of 480 units in January 2011, thereby increasing their growth by 57% as compared to the same period last year(306 units- Jan 2010). 2011 will see Audi India announcing many initiatives on product and network expansion.

Audi announced the launch of the all-new Audi R8 5.2 FSI for India. The R8 will be powered by a V10 quattro engine and built using the lightweight Audi Space Frame (ASF) design. The R8 takes 3.9 seconds for the 0-100 kph dash and tops out at 316 kph. The Audi R8 5.2 FSI will be priced at Rs. 1,32,49,000 (ex-showroom Maharashtra).

Audi announced the opening of its new showroom in Jaipur. The Audi Jaipur showroom was inaugurated by Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India, Dayanidhi Kasliwal, Director, Audi Jaipur and Aditya Kasliwal, Managing Director, Audi Jaipur.  "I am delighted to announce the opening of our new showroom in Jaipur - the capital of royalty and luxury. Rajasthan, the land of Maharajas, has been setting the standards for luxury in India for centuries. We see a huge potential for growth in this market and are happy to have found the right partner in Kamal Autotech." said Michael Perschke, Head – Audi India.

Audi, announced the opening of its new showroom in Mumbai. The Audi Mumbai West showroom was inaugurated by Andre Konsbruck, Executive Director Region Overseas, AUDI AG, Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India and Anand Rao, Managing Director, Audi Mumbai West. Also present on the occasion was leading actor, Bipasha Basu- owner of the Audi Q7.

Audi sold 1876 cars from January – August 2010 and has surpassed its last year’s annual sales of 1658 cars sold. The company has recorded a growth of 66 % over the same period in 2009 which was 1128 units. Audi India recorded sales of 250 cars in August 2010, a 46 % growth over August 2009 sales of 171 units.

Audi has started assembly of the Q5 model in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. In the future, up to 1,500 units of the Q5 will run off the assembly line there each year for the Indian market.

Audi has posted a growth of 65 percent in its sales figures in India for May 2010. Audi India's countrywide vehicle sales in May this year grew to 200 cars as compared to 121 units sold in May 2009.
