Out of the remaining, Nissan Teana, clocked 18 nos in September 2010 as against 21 nos in Sept 2009 and Nissan X-trail registered sales of 55 units as against 36 nos in Sept 2009. 

]]>Nissan Motor India Private Ltd announced that it has registered total sales of 1256 nos for the month of September 2010 as against 57 in September 2009. Out of the 1256 nos, the sales of the new Nissan Micra were 1183 units in September 2010 as against 1182 nos sold in August 2010. Out of the remaining, Nissan Teana, clocked 18 nos in September 2010 as against 21 nos in Sept 2009 and Nissan X-trail registered sales of 55 units as against 36 nos in Sept 2009. 

The delivery period for the Nissan Micra is around two months and the company expects to control it in the coming weeks. The company is also geared up to start full shipment of exports to Europe and other countries in October 2010.  Nissan has a progressively increasing order book of around 4500 bookings for Nissan Micra and with the expansion of its dealership network, the company hopes to have a far-reaching impact across the country.

The Nissan Micra spearheaded the sales figures with 1182 units in Aug 2010 as against 928 nos sold in July 2010. We got a chance to test the car and have posted our views about the cars performance. Out of the remaining, Nissan Teana, clocked 21 units in Aug 2010 as against 10 in Aug 2009 and the SUV Nissan X-trail registered sales of 44 units as against 12 in Aug 2009. Nissan also sold 2 of its iconic sports car, Nissan 370Z in Aug 2010.

In August 2010, owing to the overwhelming demand for the top-end variant of Nissan Micra (XV) - almost over 65%, the company was encouraged to re-align its initial production schedule to cater to this growing need. This has led to increase in the delivery period, which the company hopes to control and manage in the coming months. The company has also started second shift of production in August 2010 at its manufacturing facility at Oragadam, near Chennai to cater to the demand between domestic and exports. The company is expected to commence its exports during this month.

The sales order book for Nissan Micra has been progressively increasing and the company has received around 3600 bookings. Nissans dealership network too has increased and this is one reason why it has been able to reach out to people across the country. Eyeing some more dealerships in the country, the Japanese car maker would certainly want to grab the attention of the crowd with their cars and presence in the Indian Market.

The Nissan Micra, which was opened for bookings prior to its launch, has till date received more than 3000 bookings. Kiminobu Tokuyama -MD & CEO, NMIPL said, "This is just the beginning. However, we are happy and delighted at the initial response the Nissan Micra has received from the Indian customers. We look forward to an exciting journey as more and more customers benefit from the ownership experience of our product and services."

The market response to Nissan Micra has been very promising and encouraging and Nissan expects the number to increase in the coming months as they plan to ramp-up of its dealer network. There are 20 operational dealers across the country and with the kind of bookings Nissan Micra has registered, its only time when Nissan expand and capture the small car segment market.

The latest refinements to X-Trail focus on the exterior, interior and the addition of a new 20GT Clean Diesel 6-speed automatic transmission model. On the exterior, the front grille, front bumper and headlights have been redesigned. The tyre size too has been changed to P225/60R17 from the P215/60 R17 used in the earlier one.

The interior of the car has large dials for better driver visibility and a vehicle information display system is newly provided to show moment fuel consumption, upcoming maintenance schedules and various other information. In addition, a glove compartment with heat-retention and refrigerator functions is standard on all models.

There is a newly adopted Advanced Hill Descent Control system for 4WD models. This system enables the driver to set his or her desired driving speed arbitrarily within the range from 4km/h to 15km/h, depending on the degree of hill grade. Apart from that there is the glove compartment with heat-retention and refrigerator functions. The changes made to the car will certainly trickle down to the rest in the world and India too might get to see a fresh new and evovled X-Trail.

The Mumbai office will act as the regional office with key members of product planning team and homologation of NMIPL and sales and marketing team of Hover Automotive India Private Ltd, which is the strategic alliance partner for NMIPL in India.

Nissan with its global alliance partner Renault is setting up the manufacturing plant at Oragadam in Chennai, which will manufacture the first locally made compact car built on the global V-platform in May 2010. The Chennai plant will also be the sourcing hub for the global compact car for over 100 countries, especially Europe and Middle East. Nissan, which aims to introduce nine new models to India by 2012, will have five locally produced at this plant.
