They say it would also help recovery of the Rupee against the Dollar which will in turn help reducing crude import costs and petrol prices and bring a balance to market and economy.

As the rupee has slightly recovered to below 56 rupees to a dollar, and international crude prices looking at a down turn, the petrol price hike may be rolled back by a small amount. The political parties allied to the government and also opposition parties have asked the government to roll back the price hike. We hope the petrol heads will get a small breather for the time .

Honda Siel, the rich man's car manufacturer in India, is finally moving over to diesel and is expected to launch diesel cars, early 2013. After sticking with petrol till date, Honda has lost a lot of market share to diesels and will look to regain its sales figures.

As the aftermath of petrol price hike continues, companies like Tata, Hyundai, Maruti are offering discounts up to Rs 50,000 on petrol cars. We say, if you can, buy now, because petrol prices are not going to go down ever and diesel has to be deregulated soon.

Nissan Micra will get its mid-life facelift soon as it has completed almost four years after its launch in 2008. The Micra will retain its curves, but what needs to be seen is how different the car will look from the Renault Pulse which is basically another facelifted Micra.

Nissan is planning to improve its number in Russia with Datsun cars. The low-cost cars will be manufactured in Russia in collaboration with AvtoVAZ, Nissan's Russian partner.

Toyota has started exporting the made-in-India Etios and Liva cars to Africa positioning them as beginner or old people's no fuss cars. The Toyotas have received a warm welcome in the African markets thanks to Toyota's brand image of quality and fuel efficient cars.

Peugeot has revealed its sedan named 301 ahead of the Paris Motor Show. With this car, Peugeot has also shifted to a new nomenclature where all model names will end with either 1(for emerging markets) or 8 (for mainstream products).

BMW has unveiled the new face-lifted 7 Series internationally. The new car comes with revised bumpers, headlights, front grille, outside rear view mirrors. The car is 5.5 inches longer and 8 mm lower than its predecessor with redesigned front seats, new 1200watt Bang and Olufsen audio system with the standard variants. It will also be available in Hybrid.

A new Aston Martin codenamed AM310 was seen flying at the Nurburgring. With new lines and looks, the AM310 may be a replacement of the DB9 or DBS or both.

Porsche tuner Gemballa has come up with a Diamond only finish as an ultra exclusive customising option. They will grind the diamonds to a size small enough to be applied like paint. Till date, diamond finishes were achieved by using metal pigments and glass crystals. We feel that the first of these cars would certainly make their way to one of the Gulf nations.

The CarWale Daily Fuel is your quick daily dose of automotive news from India and around the world. So, it has a similar design for the dash, the clocks as well as for the various control knobs and buttons. Even the inside door handles are similar. This also means the occupant and luggage space on offer will be similar to the Nissan. Given that the Micra isn’t short on space, both front and rear, compared to its competition, this should work in the Pulse’s favour. Renault officials however say the launch car will have a few more distinguishing features, but these might not necessarily be design related.

</cw:content>

<cw:id>8144</cw:id>
Renault's new small car to be called Pulse, will be unveiled on the 29th – EXCLUSIVE

<cw:author>Rachit Hirani</cw:author><cw:displayDate>10/25/2011 5:37:00 PM</cw:displayDate><cw:views>5049</cw:views><cw:thumbImg>http://img.carwale.com/ec/8144/img/m/8144_m</cw:thumbImg><cw:largeImg>http://img.carwale.com/ec/8144/img/m/8144_l</cw:largeImg>

Renault India will unveil its latest salvo, a small car, on the 29th of October. The car to be called Pulse is the third of the five new products that the French carmaker plans to launch by the end of 2012. It has already introduced a D-segment sedan in the Fluence and a luxury SUV, which is the Koleos.

The Pulse meanwhile is a hatchback based on the Nissan Micra. So, it too shares the same V-platform like the Micra and will share the same engines and underpinnings as well and will be built in the same Chennai factory as the Nissan.

The Renault Pulse will be powered by the same three pot 1.2-litre petrol engine and the 1.5-litre diesel engine which does duty on the Nissan Micra and even has similar power and torque figures. The suspension duties too will be handled by a similar setup of MacPherson struts at the front and a torsion beam at the rear.

Inside, besides a new design for the dashboard, a different steering wheel and new inside door panels, things will remain more or less the same, be it the occupant space on the inside or even the boot size. But that's understandable given the Pulse and the Micra will not only have the exact same wheelbase and front and rear track measurements, but the overall dimensions of the Pulse will very closely mirror that of the Micra as well.

The big difference between the two cars though will be the positioning. The Pulse will be positioned above the Micra and more as a premium offering. As a result the Pulse will cost a bit more. It will however come with a lot of bells and whistles. It will have driver and passenger airbags and ABS for safety, and comfort and convenience features like climate control, keyless entry and start, and steering mounted controls among others.

Speaking to Renault officials, it was clear the idea with the Pulse isn't to sell 5000-6000 cars a month unlike most other successful cars in the segment, but to have a presence in the segment and then build on it. There are basically two bottle necks Renault is facing when it comes to doing big numbers in India. First is the limited allotted capacity at the plant to build the Pulse and second of course is the lack of a wide spread service network. The latter, however, is being worked on very seriously and the results have already begun to show, added the officials.

This is an AUTO BILD INDIA exclusive. All rights reserved.

</cw:content>
