The Jaguar XF will be the next model to be assembled in India - it is the obvious choice, as the segment that hosts the BMW 5-series, Audi A6 and Mercedes E-Class sells the most units, so a competitive price tag is an advantage. Of course, like the E63 AMG and 535i, the XFR will remain a CBU import but the rest of the models will be assembled here, starting with the 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel. Jaguar's Indian CKD operations are planned to go into effect sometime next year. Meanwhile, sister concern Land Rover is also considering assembling the Evoque here, given enough demand. Following these two models, more models from both stables will be assembled here. Price cuts for the assembled models are imminent, but it is doubtful that JLR will have another big price cut like they had with the Freelander's price once assembly operations began here.
</cw:content>

<cw:id>8913</cw:id>
The CarWale Daily Fuel - May 10, 2012

<cw:author>CarWale Team</cw:author><cw:displayDate>5/10/2012 10:56:00 AM</cw:displayDate><cw:views>1217</cw:views><cw:thumbImg>http://img.carwale.com/ec/8913/img/m/8913_m</cw:thumbImg><cw:largeImg>http://img.carwale.com/ec/8913/img/m/8913_l</cw:largeImg>

Maruti Cervo to replace Alto and have a diesel, Ferrari apologises for the Great Wall of China gimmick, Audi goes big with the diesel Hybrid R18 e-tron while Jaguar delimits the XJ top speed.

<cw:content>

Maruti Suzuki is looking to replace the ageing Alto with a new model. The British marquee has christened the model as the F-Type.

The F-Type will initially be launched as a convertible, and shall be a strict two-seater.The F-Type will join Jaguar's existing range of cars – the XF, XJ and XK. Complete F-Type technical and range details will be announced later in 2012 and as we predicted it will go on sale in mid 2013.A range of petrol engines will be available – including a new powerplant family – which could be the supercharged 3.0-litre we had mentioned.

The F-Type's will be built at the Castle Bromwich plant. The convertible will come in first, followed by the coupe in 2014. One feature that won't be carried from the C-X16 will be the side opening tailgate. To improve the practicality of the sportscar, Jaguar decided to stick with the convetnional boot.

Ian Callum, Director of Design, said: "A true sports car needs to be pure in both its purpose and its form; to have the opportunity to produce such a car for Jaguar has been a privilege both for myself and for my team. The C-type, D-type and E-type Jaguars were all sports cars that held true to this principle in their era, and the F-TYPE will hold true to that same principle in its time, a time that is soon to arrive."

</cw:content>
