4092 units of Honda City were sold, as the City now cruises ahead in sales in its segment. While Honda sold 275 units of Jazz, 233 units of the Civic, 84 units of Accord and 41 units of CR-V.

Volkswagen will kick-off its 'Think Blue' campaign along with the launch of the Passat in India. The 16-valve 2.0 common-rail turbo diesel engine will churn out 140bhp and will get a 6-speed DSG. The Passat will compete with the likes of Honda Accord and we think that the car will be priced somewhere between Rs 20-25 lakh.

The company had sold 5048 units in the corresponding month last year. The Honda cars have been recognised for their on-road performance and engine capacities. The Jazz sold 507 units, the Honda Civic 339 units, the Accord 157 units and the CRV 48 units. The Honda City is still being appreciated and welcomed by the Indian consumers. It sold 3544 units.

With the sales on the rise, the introduction of new cars or facelifts of the current would certainly help boost sales in the next term.

The sunroof introduction was found to be the most desirable feature in Accord V6 based on the customer’s feedback.

The Accord V6 will also feature Ambient Light and Footlight which accentuate the style and enhance visibility during darkness allowing enough light to see the controls. The car will also be equipped with 2 sets of keyless entry for added convenience to the customers.

The Footlight and two sets of Keyless entry have also been introduced in the Honda Accord 2.4L MT/ AT variants.

In addition, Honda Accord 3.5L V6 and Honda Accord 2.4L now have a provision for mobile phone with bluetooth interface.

The V6 3.5-litre i-VTEC engine features an advanced Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) system that switches between six-, four-, and three-cylinder combustion depending on the driving conditions and thereby delivering maximum power of 275 PS during six cylinder operation and impressive fuel economy in VCM mode while cruising. To achieve the same quietness and smoothness, as when running on all six cylinders, new Active Control Engine Mounts (ACM) and Active Noise Control (ANC) systems have been designed to complement the VCM technology.

Maruti is recalling around 1,00,000 cars from the Indian market to recitify the glitch. When contacted, the company said in a statement, "The fault was present in the cars manufactured till August 22, 2009. We realised the fault by November and immediately began contacting the customers."

Describing the fault, the statement said: "When the fuel is filled up to brim, beyond fuel auto cut off position, a possible fuel leakage from fuel pump mounting area may take place."

However, as a proactive step, the company decided to check all vehicles from the lot, around 1 lakh units including those exported overseas.  It said that the company would be changing the fuel pump gasket and O ring at no cost to customer.

Barely a month back, Honda had decided to recall 8532 'City' sedans manufactured in 2007 from India for a part replacement of power window switches that had the potential to catch fire.

With Maruti Suzuki's recall, whether a dent will be cast on the image of Japan as a manufacturer of high end safety cars is to be seen. Surely, all is 'not' well in Japanese camps.

In a statement issued worldwide, Honda Motor Co., in Japan, has recalled 437,000 vehicles globally due to the faulty air bags. "The driver's air-bag inflators in these vehicles may deploy too much pressure, which can cause the inflator casing to rupture and could result in injury or fatality," said the statement.

The announcement covers certain 2001 and 2002 Accords, Civics, Odysseys, and CRVs as well as some 2002 Acura TLs.

Honda will be recalling around 378,758 cars from the United States. In addition, 41,685 vehicles in Canada, 4,042 in Japan and 13,278 vehicles spread over other countries are part of the recall.

Model wise sales break-up: City: 4281 units; Jazz: 504 units; Civic: 695 units; CR-V: 1 unit; Accord: 313 units.
