• The Audi A3 Sedan, based on the A3 MQB platform will be positioned just below the Audi A4. Technically competing with the VW Passat, Skoda Superb, Toyota Camry and Honda Accord, the speculated Mercedes CLA, Audi hopes to take the segment head on.

• An American military research facility is working on using the exhaust gas thermodynamics of battle tanks to generate electricity to run the on board computers and other systems as far as possible. This would improve the efficiencies and also reduce emissions. It sounds similar to the electrical turbocharger that is rumoured to debut on the next Subaru Impreza WRX.
• Porsche has denied that it will develop a sports car that will slot under the Boxster. The Pajun, which we reported just days ago will compete with the E-Class, ‘may become reality’ in five or six years.
• McLaren has developed a convertible MP4-12C. It will go on sale after the McLaren F1 successor, we imagine. 
• Eterniti Motors has garnered their first sale of the Artemis super-SUV at the Bejing Auto Show.
• The US senate has okayed the installation of ‘black boxes’ in cars from 2015 onwards. This should help settle more than a few lawsuits quickly!

• A prospective Ferrari California buyer, drove the $ 200,000 car into the bay after going a bit to hot on the pedal during the test drive. Last week the May sales figures showed that the car sales have slowed down due to the revised interest rates. This week however, the automotive manufacturers are preparing for their future launches.

Audi India, this week commenced the assembly of its forthcoming model – the new A6. Mercedes-Benz became the first auto maker to launch a mobile website. Ford had organised a media drive for the new Fiesta, where we drove the car as well.

Audi, the German luxury car manufacturer, has announced the start of production of the all new Audi A6 in India in Aurangabad. More than 2,000 units of the next generation Audi A6 will run off the production line every year, in the initial years, at the Group’s Aurangabad facility. The official start of production was announced in the presence of Kurt Romeiss, Senior Manager Quality, Audi A6, Jürgen Krieger, Senior Manager PreSeries Center, Audi Neckarsulm and Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India. Dr. Leopold-Theodor Heldman, Consul General, Federal Republic of Germany in Mumbai, graced the occasion as the guest of honour.

Manufacturing of the new Audi A6 will take place in 16 work cycles on one production line at the Aurangabad plant, securing local employment for 126 individuals for the next years to come. The new Audi A6 will be offered with a choice of diesel and petrol engines.

The company has already launched a fair share of cars in India right from the R8 to its flagship car the A8L. Audi does perceive a lot of growth in the coming year and plans to launch the A6 and the A7 soon.

The company plans to add to its existing range with the all new Audi A6 and the A7. Having opened up new dealerships in Chennai and Delhi the company is gearing up for another successful tenure in the Indian automobile industry.
