Beginning 2010, Maruti 800 and Omni will not be sold in Mumbai, Delhi & NCR, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Bengalore, Ahmedabad, Pune, Surat, Kanpur and Agra. Maruti Suzuki feels the cars weren't doing good in these cities anyway hence discontinuation is the most viable option.

Though there is no direct connection of Tata Nano with the end of this legend but one can safely assume that Nano completely vanished any possibility of 800's survival.

The domestic sales of Maruti grew by 19.1% as 70,625 units were sold this February. Sales of the A1 segment (M800) fell by 29.1% as the company sold 4075 units of the M800; the C segment (Omni, Versa), the A2 segment (Alto, Wagon-R, Zen, Swift, A-star), the MUV segment ( Gypsy, Vitara) and the A3 segment (SX4, Dzire) saw an increase in sales by 14.2%, 5.1%,  90.44% and 310.8% respectively.

The entry-level Swift petrol has become dearer by Rs 5,000 and the other variants of the Swift will cost Rs 6,000 more.

The Green Cabs are also fitted with GPRS devices. They are tracked by the call centre and are connected to it. These cabs will have the least fare, good interiors and a special tray for holding luggage. The keys of the first car were handed over to Mr. Swarupchand Kothari, promoter of Green Cabs, by the Andhra Pradesh Transport Minister, Mr Kanna Laxminarayana, and Mr R.S. Kalsi, Chief General Manager (Sales), Maruti Suzuki.
