These awards which recognise the best in field of cars, motorcycles as well as products and technology were held by CarWale, India's no. 1 Automotive Portal and Auto Bild India, the only fortnightly automotive magazine in India.</p>]]></description><cw:content><![CDATA[<p>The Golden Steering Wheel, Europe&rsquo;s most coveted automobile awards, celebrated automotive excellence second year in a row in India on the 9th of March. These awards which recognise the best in field of cars, motorcycles as well as products and technology were held by CarWale, India's no. 1 Automotive Portal and Auto Bild India, the only fortnightly automotive magazine in India.</p><p>The Golden Steering Wheel was instituted way back in 1976 in Germany. Then on, it has now become most sought after prize not just by automobile manufacturers in Germany, but the whole of Europe.</p><p>The Indian edition of the award saw the addition of new categories this year. For the Consumer Favourite category winners were decided by an online voting process carried out on CarWale.com which saw nearly 2.5 lakh users cast their votes.</p><p>Besides, the awards had an eminent jury as well. The jury which comprised of editors from Auto Bild India in addition to enthusiasts, engineers and racers drove and evaluated over 60 automobiles before putting down their points to finally come up with a winner in a number of categories including the Hatchback, Sedan, SUV/UV and Imports. We are aware this is a very important phase of our journey and we stand by our commitment to provide Indian customers with a full range of products and services."<br><br>The company today has 22 dealers operational across the country and aims to have more than 100 dealers by 2013. Nissan also sold 2 of its iconic sports car,<a href="http://www.carwale.com/research/nissan-cars/370z/"> Nissan 370Z </a>in Aug 2010.<br><br>In August 2010, owing to the overwhelming demand for the top-end variant of Nissan Micra (XV) - almost over 65%, the company was encouraged to re-align its initial production schedule to cater to this growing need. This has led to increase in the delivery period, which the company hopes to control and manage in the coming months. The company has also started second shift of production in August 2010 at its manufacturing facility at Oragadam, near Chennai to cater to the demand between domestic and exports. The company is expected to commence its exports during this month.<br><br>The sales order book for Nissan Micra has been progressively increasing and the company has received around 3600 bookings. Nissans dealership network too has increased and this is one reason why it has been able to reach out to people across the country.
