Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) recently introduced one of the fastest SUVs in the world to the Indian market. Yes, we are talking about their top-end SVR (Special Vehicles Racing) version of the Range Rover Sport. The car is priced at Rs 2.03 crore (ex-showroom Mumbai) and is the first vehicle from JLR's Special Vehicles Operation division. Have a closer look at the made to order car.

The cosmetic changes in the front have not only added to the sporty appeal, but have also enhanced cooling and aerodynamic efficiencies. The front bumper gets larger trapezoidal air intakes to increase airflow to two intercoolers.

The clamshell hood gets a dark Range Rover badge below which revised vents and a new grille can be seen. This is finished in a dark colour in contrast with the projector headlamps with LED signature lighting. The fender sports a newly designed vent. 

The car rides on 21-inch alloy wheels with a striking new pattern. These are shod with 275/45 R21 all-season tyres that also emphasise the all-terrain capability. They are designed to offer optimum grip for the car to certainly do the 0-100kmph sprint in 4.7secs.

At the back, the car gets a prominent SVR emblem to signify exclusivity of their division. There is a new high-mounted spoiler that reduces lift and is balanced with the front bumper. The rear bumper gets a gloss black diffuser that incorporates the quad exhaust pipes.

The quad pipe two-stage active exhaust is electronically controlled and in sync with the tune of the engine. It gives the Range Rover Sport SVR the sufficient grunt while on the race track and also the refinement on an everyday drive.

The interior of the Range Rover Sport SVR gets additional SVR-exclusive elements apart from the standard aluminum interior trim details. Carbon fibre trim can be opted for the door panels, centre console, dashboard and steering-wheel bezel.

The cabin of the Range Rover Sport SVR features 14-way power leather sports seats sporting the SVR logo. The seats offer additional lateral support while driving on the track or for spirited driving. These are available in four colours.

The rear seats are also designed on the same lines of the performance-oriented front seats, and can also accommodate a fifth passenger. These are finished in Oxford leather and come with ribbed, quilted centers with Ebony Black top stitching and reflective piping.

The big burly SUV is powered by a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 mill that churns out 542bhp of power and 680Nm of torque. This engine is matched to an eight-speed automatic transmission and power is sent to all the wheels through the standard four-wheel-drive system.

The mighty mill doesn't only propel the car forward quickly, but the overall design has also helped the Range Rover Sport SVR to clock the Nurburgring circuit in just 8 minutes and 14 seconds in October 2014, making it the fastest time by an SUV on that racing circuit then.

And it’s not just the astonishing performance at higher speeds, but the car is equally capable in rough terrains as well. The two-speed transfer case offers selectable low- and high-range that enables the car to move easily off-road.
