Official: Mercedes-Benz to launch 2014 E-Class on June 25

The 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class will be launched in New Delhi on the 25^th of this month. The car was unveiled at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show and flaunts the new design philosophy that Mercedes has incorporated in its recent models.

The aesthetic changes to the new model include a revised hood and front bumper aimed at giving the car a sharper and a more imposing profile. The 2014 E-Class features a new grille as well as a new headlight design that is now expected to be common across its entire range from this year onwards. The daytime LED lamps which were previously housed in the front bumper are now integrated with the headlight assembly.

At the back, there are some minor changes in the form of revised exhaust tips and a re-profiled tail lamp cluster. Inside, the 2014 E-Class has revamped the interiors with the instrument cluster losing the two outer gauges, a new centrally mounted analog clock similar to the one on the S-Class and the repositioning of the gear selector from the center console to the column.

The engine variants on the India spec E-Class is expected to include a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V-6 and a 402-hp, twin-turbocharged 4.7-liter V-8 in the E550. The diesel model gets a 2.1-litre motor that comes in two configurations; a 150bhp, 500Nm one and a 170bhp, 400Nm version. Power will be transmitted via a seven-speed torque-converter automatic transmission.

The new E-Class is expected to be priced slightly higher than the current model. We expect that Mercedes-Benz will bring the AMG spec variant vehicle to Indian market when it launches this month. More details on the pricing and the various models on offer will be revealed during the launch.
