Maruti Suzuki S-Cross facelift to be launched around Diwali

Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch the facelifted S-Cross in India around Diwali this year. This was confirmed by CV Raman, executive director, R&D, Maruti Suzuki India. 

The updated S-Cross was unveiled at the 2016 Paris Motor Show and the Indian market is expected to get the same changes. The 2017 S-Cross gets a new chrome grille with vertical slats and a heavily redesigned bumper which has a radiator grille. The vehicle is also equipped with projector lamps, which we expect will come only with the top-end variant. The lamps are flanked by LED daytime running lamps as well. This has made the fascia of the S-Cross quite aggressive and gives a nice character. At the rear, the tail lamps have been redesigned and now get LED treatment. 

The company has added new bits on the inside. Some variants will get new upholstery; there’s an updated instrument cluster with new MID and also new interior combination. The S-Cross also gets a four-mode ALLGRIP system, radar brake support (RBS) and heated front leather seats. However, the Indian-spec model won’t be launched with any of these fancy features. 

Under the hood, the 2017 S-Cross has the 1.6-litre DDiS motor which churns out 118bhp and 320Nm of peak torque and also the smaller 1.3-litre 89bhp motor. There’s a new 1.0-litre Boosterjet mill option as well, but that won´t be coming to India. 

We’re expecting the prices of the facelifted S-Cross to go up slightly. But there’s a high possibility that the Gurgaon-based manufacturer will increase the price of the top-end variants only.
