Hyundai Eon, Grand i10 and Xcent get safer

Hyundai has continued with enhancing its models’ safety in 2016. Following the Elite i20, i20 Active and Verna, Hyundai’s range of smaller cars now gets the same treatment. 

The entry-level Eon hatchback gets a driver airbag as an option across the entire range except for the base D-lite variant. This feature was standard on the top-spec Sportz variant and it continues to be so. 

As a part of the overhaul, the Grand i10 is being discontinued in the Asta trim. This means it will now be available in only four trims - Era, Magna, Sportz and Asta (O). The Grand now gets a driver side airbag as standard across all variants with the passenger side airbag being offered from the Sportz variant onwards.

Hyundai’s compact sedan the Xcent got ABS as standard across all variants earlier this year. In this latest revision, a driver airbag is standard across all variants with the passenger airbag being offered on the top-spec SX and SX (O) trims.  

From a price point, the Grand i10 will cost Rs 11,000 more for each variant, according to dealer sources. However, price changes for the Eon and Xcent are yet to be confirmed though we believe that the Xcent should also experience a similar price hike as the Grand i10 as they are based on the same platform. Delivery of these updated models are expected to start within two months, subject to the clearance of the current stock.
