Facelifted Ford Focus spotted testing

Ford has been spotted testing a facelifted version of its Focus. The hatchback is expected to be officially unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2014. The current version was launched in Europe and North America way back in May 2011 and due for an update. 

The changes to this facelift are mostly cosmetic. The front-grille is much deeper and the number plate lower along with two large triangular intakes on the nose. Small updates are expected to be made to the cabin with an updated center-dash. Based on the camouflage, new tail lights are expected with some alterations to the rear bumper.

The engine line-up will be carried-over from the current generation Focus. Ford plans to introduce an array of its EcoBoost engines for this C-segment car. The RS version is expected to use the Ford-developed 2.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine tuned to around 330bhp which pips the current Focus RS by around 30bhp. The same engine will also feature in the new Ford Mustang. The car has also been spotted testing at Nurburgring.

The Focus has been one of Ford’s most popular cars in the mid-size segment. Launched first in 1998, the Ford Focus has consistently occupied the leadership position in its class.
