Tata was the first to unveil the new models in the run-up to the Auto Expo. While the Bolt was the only new vehicle to be unveiled in its segment, the compact sedan Zest had to share attention with the Hyundai Xcent and the Ford Figo concept sedan.

Hyundai’s Grand i10-based sedan now has a name, it’s called the Xcent and it’s the Korean carmaker’s ticket to the hotly-contested compact sedan segment which is currently dominated by Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire and the Honda Amaze. The Xcent, however, is not the only brand new model to foray into the compact sedan segment as Tata Motors, too, have brought along their all-new contender in the form of the Zest.

ADAC, the authority behind the EuroNCAP crash safety programme that assesses how safe European cars are, has just gone global. Under the new Global NCAP tests, they have picked the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800, Tata Nano, Hyundai i10 and Volkswagen Polo as these comprise over twenty per cent of the small cars sold today.

The Honda Mobilio was unveiled yesterday at the 2014 Auto Expo. Based on the Brio platform, it is the third vehicle in the series after the Brio hatchback, Amaze and is expected to be launched in the middle of this year. It is a mid-size MPV and will be offered with petrol, diesel engines as well an automatic transmission option.

The South Korean carmaker Ssangyong along with the XIV-1 concept car also unveiled the LiV-1 concept here at the Auto Expo. LIV stands for Limitless Interface Vehicle and it depicts the new design language of the South Korean company which displayed the concept car for the first time outside its home turf.

Skoda has announced that they will be launching the facelifted Superb on February 10. The company's flagship sedan was launched earlier this week at the Auto Expo and will replace the current car, which was launched back in 2009.
