Apple has unveiled its new CarPlay infotainment system at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. The company, in a release, has said that the infotainment system is ‘smarter and safer way to use an iPhone in the car’. The system will be offered by a variety of manufacturers including Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Mitsubishi, Nissan, GM, Peugeot Citroen, Subaru, Suzuki and Toyota.

Volkswagen has displayed the 2014 Volkswagen Polo at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. Though it was unveiled online before, this is the first public appearance of the new Volkswagen. Jaguar has announced that its new premium sports sedan will be called the XE. The new sedan will rival the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, BMW 3 Series and Audi A4 and be pitted in the entry level sports sedan category. This will be the first car to be powered by a new engine family called Ingenium and will be underpinned by a new aluminium monocoque that was unveiled with the C-X17 crossover.

Mahindra has launched a new initiative called Sankalp, as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR). The CSR campaign was launched today at the Bandra-Worli-Sea-link in the presence of BK Upadhyay (Jt.commissioner traffic dept) and Qaiser Khalid (ACP traffic dept). Through this initiative the Indian vehicle manufacturer plans to provide better safety equipment to traffic cops across Mumbai. The launch has happened today to coincide with the National Safety Day which falls on March 4 in India.

Audi has taken the wraps off the third generation of the Audi TT sports car at the VW Group Night. We got the first glimpse of the two seater sports car when a few images of the 2015 Audi TT-S were leaked ahead of the official unveiling. Influenced by the All road Shooting Brake concept as well as the old TT, the TT is based on VW group’s MQB platform and has been lightened for better performance and efficiency.

Maruti Suzuki India has announced a slight hike in the domestic sales. The sales numbers for the manufacturer increased by 1.8 per cent in February this year with 99,758 cars delivered to customers. The manufacturer had sold 97,955 units in the same month last year.

General Motors bankruptcy in 2009, forced them to give up on the Hummer brand, an attempt to sell it was made, but to no avail. The brand was eventually declared defunct in 2010. Does America miss the Hummer? Well, GM thinks so; the American automotive major is considering a new product akin to the Hummer.
