Audi teases the 2017 Q5 before its Paris Motor Show premiere

Audi has started its preparations for the world premiere of the 2017 Q5 at the Paris Motor Show. And before the unveiling on September 29, the carmaker has kicked off their promotions by releasing a few teasers of the next-gen SUV.

The teaser image reveals the Q5's tail lamp design. There is also a teaser video, which hints at the latest iteration of the Q5 getting an MMI infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. We can expect the carmaker to come up with more teasers till the end of this month slowly revealing the features of the car. We anyway have a lot of information about the car, thanks to the innumerous spy-shots of the SUV, which now looks a bit less bulky than the current car. It has also become sharper and angular overall.

Up front, we can expect a single frame grille with slimmer headlamps and a reworked bumper. At the back, there will be trapezoidal dual exhaust openings, restyled tail lamps as seen in the image and an integrated spoiler. More importantly, there are mechanical changes as well. This second-generation Audi Q5 will be based on the second generation Modular Longitudinal Matrix platform. This is also known as ‘MLB Evo’, which currently underpins many vehicles ranging from the smaller fifth-generation Audi A4 to the bigger and luxurious Bentley Bentayga.

The latest iteration of the Audi Q5 is expected to borrow the engine options from its sedan siblings. This will then include the petrol, diesel and even plug-in hybrid powerplants. On the transmission front, the six-speed manual, seven-speed S-tronic or eight-speed tiptronic gearboxes might be amongst the choices. The SUV will be globally offered in front-wheel drive configuration in some markets, but mostly we can expect the Quattro permanent all-wheel drive system to be offered as standard.

The 2017 Audi Q5 has been seen testing on Indian roads several times before. So, with Audi taking the veils off the car at the end of this month, we also can expect the car to be introduced to the Indian market by the end of this year.
