The Mahindra Verito CS has been spied testing in two different locations. The first set of cars, which were covered only at rear-end, was spotted by Auto Adrenaline at Nashik while the second car, covered completely in camouflage, was snapped by team-bhp while testing outside Chennai.
The Verito CS will follow the same mantra that the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire and Tata Indigo CS follow: lop the end off the boot so that the car is less than 4000mm long. It can then be defined as a small car based on length. The excise duty benefit it gains is quite significant if you’re the type of person who wants a lot of legroom but doesn’t need boot space.
The uncovered compact Verito’s look the same as their bigger brother from the front, however, on the side both cars have certain differences in terms of design of the rear windows and there is no word on which design will be used on the final product.
The test mule spotted outside Chennai reveals some details about the taillights, which now sport a design similar to that found on the Tata Indica. The pictures also show that the Verito CS will be a notchback (small boot with big body) much like the Hyundai Accent Viva and the upcoming Chevrolet Sail sedan.
The Verito CS will be offered with the same 1.5-litre Renault K9K diesel engine that powers the full-size Verito. There is no word on the petrol variant, as Mahindra currently does not have a petrol engine less than 1.4-litres in its line up.
The Indian SUV major had recently confirmed that the car will be launched before the end of March. Stay tuned to CarWale as we will bring you more details of the car when they emerge.
