Fiat announces Jeep Grand Cherokee and Wrangler for Indian market

Fiat has announced that it will launch the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Wrangler for the Indian market in the third quarter of 2013. Both models will be brought into the country via the CBU route and will be powered by both petrol and diesel engines.

The Grand Cherokee will be powered by a 3.0-litre turbodiesel V6 which produces 237bhp and 550Nm of torque. The Wrangler on the other hand will get a 2.8-litre diesel mill that produces 200bhp and 460Nm of torque.  Both models are also expected to be offered with a 3.6-litre V6 petrol also.

Jeep also plans to launch a compact SUV in 2015 and India will be one of the first markets where the vehicle will make its debut. Eventually, the American SUV maker plans to bring its complete portfolio here.

Mopar (Motor Parts) a spare parts company that provides performance-oriented spares for Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep will also make its debut in the market soon. This means that spares for Chrysler group products will not be an issue.
