April 2010 Car Sales Figures

The beginning of the second quarter of 2010 for automakers has been good, with sales for most of them being positive compared to last year. Many manufacturers have now introduced new small cars which have triggered their sales figures.

Volkswagen’s entry into the hatchback segment with the New Polo has received a confirmed booking of 7,300 units of which 1599 units have been delivered. Commenting on record sales, Mr. Neeraj Garg, Member of Board and Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt. Ltd said “We are extremely delighted in seeing an upward trend in the sales of our vehicles.â€
The sales figures of Mercedes-Benz have also increased substantially. On this increment in the sales numbers Dr. Wilfried Aulbur, Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India said: “Our sales numbers reflect our traction with the market.â€
Commenting on the record performance, Mr. P Balendran, Vice-President, GM India said, “We are pleased to see such robust growth for all our car lines and we believe these world class products will further propel the Chevrolet brand in the market.â€
