It was indeed an exciting first for CarWale and Navi Mumbai. Vintage history rolled on the roads of Navi Mumbai as the first CarWale Vintage Wheels’09 – Vintage & Classic Car Drive was flagged off this Sunday at 9:30 am.
Nearly forty entries were received for this drive which included a stunning red Chevrolet Impala, Austin Healey Sprite, a majestic Rolls Royce, and an 80-year old Ford A. Vintage enthusiasts poured out in large numbers to catch a glimpse of the stunners wearing the robes of a bygone era at the InOrbit Mall, Vashi. These rare beauties traveled from Navi Mumbai to Dukes Retreat – a Keys Resort at Khandala.
The Drive also attracted over 100 photographers for the CarWale Vintage Wheels’09 Photography Contest. The winners of this photography contest take home cash prizes of up to Rs.10000 and some very exciting merchandise. The winners will be announced on 26th December ’09 on www.carwale.com. The winning entries will feature in the CarWale 2010 annual calendar.
Being the first event of its kind in Navi Mumbai there was tremendous excitement among the residents and also avid participation by media.
Mohit Dubey, CEO CarWale.com is very excited by the success of the event. “This has been a huge success for us. Through this initiative we have been able to create a community of vintage car lovers in Navi Mumbai. The idea is to take this event to many more cities and build a pan-India community of such enthusiasts both online and offline on the CarWale platform,” said Dubey.
“This event was conceptualized at the back of a simple thought - how we can get people together on a common interest related to cars and deliver a great experience. Just didn’t realize that it can be so fulfilling and a great future opportunity” said Shrikant of Sportscraft, organizers of the event.
CarWale Vintage Wheels ’09 was organized by Sportscraft in association with InOrbit Mall Vashi, Gulf Oil, Wheels Car Customs, Dukes Retreat- a Keys Resort and Four Points by Sheraton, Vashi. The event was co-sponsored by MapmyIndia, India’s leading GPS navigation device and Software providers.

Wanted to have some more details about it . Is it for the photos published in the newspapers and/or also for unpublished material too? Where and by what day one should submit it? Hard copy or soft copy (size/resolution) and how many photos can one submit? Can you revert back on the above
