Honda Siel Cars India will launch the Jazz in India with a 1.2 L i-VTEC engine, developed for the Indian Market. The new powertrain is a four - cylinder, 1198 cc engine featuring Programmed Fuel Injection delivering a power of 89bhp @ 6,200 rpm and Torque of 110 Nm (11.2 kg-m) @ 4800 rpm while returning a fuel economy of 16.1 km/l as per ARAI test data. In line with Honda’s mission to reduce its environmental footprint, the new engine has Euro IV emission levels.

The i-VTEC regulates the opening of air-fuel intake valves and exhaust valves in accordance with engine speeds. By regulating valve opening to match engine speed, the i-VTEC engine adjusts its characteristics to realize both power and low fuel consumption. The development work for this engine was done in Honda R&D centre in TochigiJapan.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, Vice President - Marketing, Honda Siel Cars India said “The “Made for India” Jazz engine will provide the perfect balance between good fuel economy and performance. While the engine was developed specially for the Indian market, it has been successfully launched in UK due to its excellent performance.”
