    McLaren reveals track-oriented 570S GT4 and 570S Sprint

McLaren has been rather quick at expanding its existing range of cars. Following the launch of a number of hard-core GT models last year, the British sports car maker has unveiled the 570S GT4 and the 570S Sprint for 2016. The 570S GT4, in particular, will enter a season-long development programme in the British GT championship.

The 570S Sprint, on the other hand, will be revealed in the coming weeks. It will be dedicated for private track days and is therefore unrestricted by racing regulations. McLaren, though, has revealed that the 570S Sprint owners will be able to upgrade to the GT4 specification.

Coming back to the track-only 570S GT4, this new model shares the carbon fibre architecture with the other models in the Sports Series range. Driver protection is further enhanced with the addition of an FIA-approved rollcage and fire extinguisher system. Carbon fibre and aluminium are used for the re-profiled bodywork, which is formed over wider track both front and rear to accommodate the lightweight cast magnesium alloy wheels shod with slick Pirelli racing tyres. Two-way adjustable motorsport dampers with coil-over springs are fitted in the front and rear, and an on-board air jacking system is fitted as standard.

With a pure focus on lap times, the 570S GT4 features a unique aerodynamic package which includes a GT4-spec rear wing, a larger front splitter and re-profiled floor assembly. These upgrades have been designed to optimise the aerodynamic performance and cooling of the car.

As for the firepower, the familiar 3.8-litre twin turbo V8 engine is carried over from the road-going Sports Series model. The 7-speed automatic gearbox is also familiar to the other models in the range, transferring power to the track via the rear wheels.

The 570S GT4 will make its development debut at the opening round of the British GT Championship at Brands Hatch, UK. Going forward, it will be eligible for all GT4 homologated championships globally from the 2017 season. Full details for the 570S Sprint, including pricing, will be out in the coming weeks.
