Fiat revives the Tipo badge with new C-Segment sedan

Fiat has announced that the new C-Segment sedan based on the Aegea project, unveiled in Istanbul, will be called the Tipo. The new car is expected to go on sale in the European, Asian and Middle Eastern markets soon. 

With the length around 4.5 metres, the Fiat Tipo is marginally longer than the current C-Segment cars sold in India like the Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. Like many of the Fiat cars, it is a good looking sedan with the mesh grille and aggressive front design. The extra length also means that the car has better proportions and looks more premium and perhaps on par with the D-Segment sedans.

The Tipo gets features like the Fiat’s Uconnect with a five-inch touchscreen multimedia system, rear parking camera, climate control among others. In the international markets, the car will be available with the choice of two multijet diesel engines and two petrol engines. The Indian version on the other hand will get the 90bhp and 200Nm diesel unit and the 112bhp and 207Nm producing petrol mill.

The Tipo will be on sale in Europe by the end of this year. As for the Indian debut, the car may be on display at the 2016 Auto Expo, with the launch around the festive season next year.
