India-made Ford Figo sedan and hatchback launched in South Africa

Ford has launched the Figo sedan and hatchback in South Africa. These cars are manufactured in India and exported there. The hatchback costs ZAR 158,900 to ZAR 203,900 (Rs 7.7 lakh to Rs 9.9 lakh) and the Ford Figo sedan is priced from ZAR 160,900 to ZAR 205,900 (Rs 7.84 lakh to Rs 10.04 lakh).

The Figo sedan is a full-sized car unlike the Ford Aspire available in the Indian market. The car gets a boot of 445 litres, whereas the sub-four metre vehicle sold in our country gets a smaller one of 359 litres. Cosmetically, the cars are similarly styled and boast of the same features.

Similar is the case with the hatchback. Both the cars will be available only in three variants Ambiente, Trend and Titanium. The feature list includes leather seats, MyFord Dock, automatic climate control, power-folding ORVMs, voice-activated SYNC entertainment system with support for Bluetooth, USB and Aux-in and Ford’s intelligent MyKey  over the standard equipment.

The cars are offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol version is powered by the 1.5-litre Ti-VCT mill that produces 110.5bhp of power and 136Nm of torque while the diesel comes powered by the 1.5-litre TDCi unit producing 98.6bhp of power and 215Nm of torque. Transmission options include the five-speed manual and the six-speed dual clutch automatic.

South Africa is one of the first markets to receive these India-made Ford cars. Sales of these cars will begin there within a few days.
