Maruti Suzuki Ertiga hyrbid facelift variants revealed

Maruti Suzuki will soon launch the Ertiga facelift for the Indian market. The revised car gets some cosmetic changes and many new features including an automatic transmission for the petrol variant and a mild hybrid version with the diesel variant.

The changes upfront include a new three-slat chrome grille in place of the current four-slat one and revised front bumper with restyled air intakes. The silhouette remains the same but the rear profile boasts of a new chrome garnish above the registration plate, rear parking sensors and extended taillight reflectors.

The cosmetic makeover is subtle giving the car a fresh look, but Maruti Suzuki has now equipped the cabin with more features. The overall layout and design of the interior remains the same, however, there are a few additions like new fabric upholstery, a 50:50 split for the third row seats, a new dark brown colour for the steering wheel and a new gear stick.

The manufacturer has played well on the safety front and even the base Lxi/Ldi variant gets a driver side airbag now. There is additionally a safety package introduced with the new optional (O) trim across L and V variants. ABS with EBD, front dual airbags and seat belt pretensioner and force limiter will be offered with this new variant. Other features like front and rear power windows, electrically-adjustable and folding ORVMs, integrated turn indicator on the ORVMs, audio system with Bluetooth, USB, AUX-in and CD, keyless entry, rear AC, second row power socket, 50:50 split for third row and reverse parking sensors will be offered from the V variant onwards. The top-of-the-line Z+ variant will additionally also boast of alloy wheels, a SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system, steering mounted audio controls, height-adjustable driver seat, Smart key with engine starter button, rear wiper and defogger and a reverse parking camera.

The facelifted Ertiga will continue to employ the 1.4-litre petrol mill and the 1.3-litre Multijet diesel engine. While the former produces 94bhp of power and 130Nm of torque, the latter churns out 89bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, while the petrol now also gets an automatic transmission. The diesel variants will come equipped with SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) technology that will improve the efficiency of the vehicle.

The revised Ertiga MPV with the added features will be launched in the coming weeks. It might be priced slightly expensive than the current model and will go up against the Honda Mobilio, Chevrolet Enjoy and the Nissan Evalia in our country. Deliveries are expected to start by November this year.
