2017 BMW M5 spotted testing at the Nurburgring

Our spy photographers have sent us a new batch of images of the 2017 BMW M5. The car was performing testing duties near the company's Nurburgring test centre.

The test mule was taking rounds in a disguised avatar, but the changes can be guessed from the visible components. The fascia sports a new twin kidney grille, revised bumpers with bigger lower intakes that get mesh inserts. The car was riding on black alloy wheels, which are expected to be lightweight and strengthened. It might also get a high-performance braking system. The sporty styling continues at the back with a four-tailpipe exhaust system.

Reports suggest that the new BMW M5 is expected to have an upgraded 4.4-litre M TwinPower Turbo V8 mill. Power output could increase to 626bhp from the current 560bhp. The car is expected to shed around 220pounds making it lighter than the existing version. This will also enable the performance car to do the 0-100kmph sprint even quicker, may be less than four seconds.

Since the new 5 Series is expected to be globally unveiled this year, we can only expect the BMW M5 to be officially revealed next year. If reports are to be believed, BMW might offer the M5 with an optional all-wheel-drive system. This will be the first time the carmaker will offer the AWD on this car and might be useful for customers living in the cold countries.
