Toyota to sell spare parts online in India

In order to support its customer satisfaction initiative, Toyota Kirloskar Motor plans to start selling spare parts through the Internet.

The company is in its initial stages of implementing this plan and soon will start the pilot project. Initially, the sale of the spare parts will start online in Bengaluru this week and the manufacturer aims at slowly taking this further to other metropolitan cities by 2016. 

Shekar Viswanathan, Vice- Chairman and Whole Time Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motors, said, "We have a total of one million customers in India and our primary aim is to make them satisfied and loyal. Our new initiative of making spare parts available online is aimed at making it easier for them."  

The  company intends to first make those parts available online  which are frequently changed and do not require much help in installation These parts can be fixed through a local workshop and do not need a customer to come all the way to a Toyota service centre. With this in mind, the company is readying an inventory of 400 units that includes wipers, oil filters and fan belts along with 30 other accessories.

Toyota Kirloskar also plans to localise the delivery process through the nearby service centres. This will not only help in quick delivery of items, but also help the dealers connect with their consumers as well. We think more manufacturers should come up with this idea so that at least tech savvy consumers get access to some genuine accessories easily through the web.
