Hyundai's domestic sales for May 2015 increase by 3.4 per cent

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) has announced a 3.4 per cent hike in domestic sales for May 2015. The company sold 37,450 units last month in India, while they had sold 36,205 units in the same month in 2014.

The carmaker's cumulative sales figure including exports last month was reported as 52,515 units. This also shows a 1.5 per cent growth as Hyundai's overall sales in the corresponding period in 2014 were 51,718 units.

Coming to the exports, Hyundai had exported 15,513 units in May 2014. However, this year the manufacturer couldn't manage a hike, in fact, this time their overall export figures are just above the 15k mark. They collectively sold 15,065 vehicles abroad, showing a decline of 2.9 per cent last month.

Rakesh Srivastava, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, HMIL said, "In a market experiencing low growth with decreasing contribution of rural and diesel vehicles sales, Hyundai volumes grew to 37,450 units with fourth consecutive month of more than 10,000 units of highly successful and acceptable Elite and Active showcasing customers changing preference towards brands delivering high aspirational value at attainable price."

Hyundai India's success in terms of sales in our country is testimony to the fact that they have extended their services across various regions in the country. This includes the expansion of their dealer network and adding new products to their portfolio. The latest products include the i20 Active, which is a beefier version of the Elite i20 hatchback, and the refreshed Verna and Elantra. We can expect the ix25 crossover to be launched for the Indian market in the coming months.
