BMW has announced that the 6 Series Gran Coupe facelift will be launched in India on May 29. First unveiled in December last year, the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe is a four door sedan, which rivals the Audi A7 and Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class.
At the front, the new 6 Series features new LED headlamps and foglights, just like the new M6 Gran Coupe. The kidney grille now sports nine horizontal slats instead of 10, which is aimed at improving the cooling of the engine, while the bumper has also been slightly altered to accommodate a full-width air-vent. The rear profile has been updated with more chrome on the boot and bigger exhaust pipes. The car also gets redesigned mirrors to improve the airflow around the car, new designs for the alloy wheels and new paint schemes.
The 6 Series Gran Coupe is available only in the 640d trim, which is powered by a 3.0-litre flat-six engine. This engine delivers 313bhp and 630Nm of torque to the rear wheels, through an eight-speed ZF gearbox. Inside, the new cars get more LEDs and leather bits for the dashboard. A sport exhaust system comes as standard, which produces a throatier exhaust note. BMW claims that the efficiency in the new 6 Series is more efficient than the outgoing model, which can be attributed to better aerodynamics.
The 6 Series is a part of a unique segment, which caters to an enthusiast audience looking for a performance car with stylish looks. The 6 Series Gran Coupe is sold in India as a completely built unit (CBU) and is expected to be priced around Rs 1.2 crore.
