2015 Ford Everest (Endeavour) revealed; To launch in India next year

After giving us a sneak peek of the 2015 Everest last week, American auto giant Ford has now completely revealed the newly developed SUV. The automaker has revealed that this new model will go on sale next year, globally, including India where it will be sold as the Endeavour. 

First showcased earlier during the year at the 2014 Bangkok Motor Show, the 2015 Everest is based on Ford’s infamous off-roader – the Ranger.  Design highlights on this India-bound model include an imposing radiator grille, front bumper and LED daytime running lights. The SUV also features aluminium front and rear underbody protection and a claimed 225mm ground clearance. Furthermore, Ford says the 2015 Everest can wade through 800mm of water. Lastly, the towing capacity is rated at 3,000 kilograms.

Ford is confident that the new Everest will redefine its segment and play a major role in the automaker’s global growth strategy. Said to be the most comprehensively researched vehicle Ford has ever conceived in the Asia-Pacific region, the next-generation Everest has been designed to meet the needs of buyers in the said region.

Ford has announced that the new Everest will be available with two diesel and one EcoBoost petrol engine options. The diesel models will be powered either by the 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi and the bigger five-cylinder 3.2-litre Duratorq TDCi engine. The petrol model, meanwhile, will get the award winning 2-litre, four cylinder EcoBoost engine. Ford is offering both manual and automatic gearbox options for the 2015 Everest.

The Everest will be manufactured in Thailand, specifically for ASEAN markets. Here in India, it will be sold as the Endeavour. At present, the vehicle is sold in India through the completely knocked down (CKD) route and the 2015 model will continue to follow suit. When launched, it will compete with similarly-sized vehicles such as the Toyota Fortuner, Mahindra Ssangyong Rexton and the Hyundai Santa Fe.
