Land Rover announces series of updates for new Range Rover and Range Rover Sport

If you thought the new Range Rover and Range Rover Sport couldn’t get any better off road, think again. Land Rover has just announced a comprehensive series of updates for both these off-roaders. Designed to further enhance the off-roading capabilities, the updates include enhanced six-cylinder diesel engines and a revised version of Land Rover’s All-Terrain Progress Control system.

Leading the series of updates is the All-Terrain Progress Control (ATPC) which complements the capable four-wheel-drive chassis featured in both the Range Rover and the Range Rover Sport. What this system does is allow the driver to input a desired speed, either from rest or an existing speed, without any pedal inputs once the brake is released. The system continuously monitors and adjusts the vehicle settings to optimise traction and maintain progress in all conditions.

Land Rover has announced that the ATPC technology will be made available in the Range Rover TDV6, Range Rover Sport SDV6 and all V8 Supercharged derivatives. The brand has also made a few tweaks to the existing diesel engine range in the interest of fuel efficiency. The TDV6 engine, for instance, is now 8.5 per cent more fuel efficient than before. The SDV6 engine, on the other hand, sees a 7 per cent improvement over the outgoing version.

Given that both the Range Rover and the Range Rover sport are fully imported into the Indian market, the India-bound models will benefit from this new series of upgrades.
