Euro-spec Honda CR-V facelift for 2014 Paris Motor Show

At the ongoing 2014 Paris Motor Show, Honda will unveil its new-look CR-V for the European markets. The car now gets a host of exterior design upgrades, a more powerful diesel engine and a 9-speed automatic gearbox. 

On the outside, the Euro-spec CR-V gets new headlamps, front grille, fog lights, skid-plate and bumper; while at the rear, new LED lamps, a refreshed tailgate design and bumper complete the upgrades. As for the mechanical upgrades, Honda has revealed that the four-wheel drive CR-V will be equipped with the more powerful 1.6-litre i-DTEC four-cylinder diesel engine from Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology series. This new engine replaces the previous 2.2 litre i-DTEC diesel that has been around for quite some time now. 

When paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, the 1.6-litre unit produces 160bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. In order to fully exploit the engine’s efficiency, the new CR-V is also available with a new 9-speed automatic transmission. The two-wheel drive diesel CR-V, on the other hand, is available with a manual transmission, and will continue to be equipped with the 120bhp, 1.6 litre i-DTEC diesel engine. 

The European-spec CR-V will be built at Honda’s Swindon facility in the UK. The vehicle will be showcased later today at the 2014 Paris Motor Show alongside other important new models and concepts from Honda.
