Mahindra Bolero continues to top the utility vehicles sales chart

Despite registering a drop in sales of just under 1,000 units, the Mahindra Bolero has retained the crown of the top-selling utility vehicle in India. The Bolero bagged the top position for the fourth consecutive month in July 2014, despite seeing a 12 per cent drop in numbers, as compared to the same period in 2013.

The EcoSport, which has been driving Ford’s growth in India, after a string of success, saw its position drop down to fourth as the Toyota Innova shot past both the EcoSport and the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga to occupy the second position. Around 1,300 units shy of Bolero’s numbers, the Innova registered a 19 per cent growth in domestic sales July 2014, as compared to the corresponding period, last year. Ertiga, continuing its strong performance with a 19 per cent growth, has occupied the third position.

In July, Honda launched the Mobilio in India, and going by the reactions, we can say that the sales chart is up for a major reshuffle. In just over a week after its launch, the demand for the Mobilio went through the roof as the MPV amassed over 10,000 bookings. This demand is sure to give the people at Maruti Suzuki some sleepless nights, as they continue to offer discounts on the popular MPV.
