Mahindra e2o may get power steering and four-doors

Mahindra may introduce a power steering variant for their electric car, the e2o in the next few months. The introduction of this new variant has come after few of its owners complained about the steering feeling heavy at low speeds.

Reports suggest that the company has taken this feedback very seriously and wants to make sure the upcoming variant should satisfy the customer needs. The sales of e2o have been below expectations but that is not stopping Mahindra to add this feature. However, there is a chance of the driving range to come down as the power steering setup will add some weight to the car. 

Mahindra is also working on introducing a four-door variant. This variant may also be a result of customer feedback as currently, the access to the rear seats is difficult. With the addition of rear doors, the customers won’t have any problem getting in and out of this electric car. 

First unveiled at the 2012 Auto Expo, the e2o is powered by an electric motor that is driven by 48-volt lithium-ion batteries. These batteries have a range of about 100sms on a single charge that takes around five hours to charge. The Mahindra e2o is manufactured at the company’s Bangalore plant.
