Mercedes-Benz details the 2015 C-Class Edition 1; available for one year only

The Detroit Auto Show was where the 2015 C-Class first premiered and prior to that Mercedes-Benz had officially previewed the car on the Internet. Now, the company has released full details about the C-Class Edition 1 which will be available only during the first 12 months of the W205 sedan’s production.

This is a practice which the company has followed with its other Edition 1 models. With regards to what it comes with, the carmaker has an impressive list which distinguishes it from the production models of the car. It features Avantgarde's exterior styling and gets Edition 1 badges on the fenders along with standard 19-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels or optional 19-inch five twin-spoke rims painted in Himalaya gray. Customers can choose from a variety of body colours such as Black, Polar White, Palladium Silver, Obsidian Black, Iridium Silver, Diamond Silver, Designo Diamond White Bright and Tenoritgrau.

The interior cabin has a black Nappa leather-wrapped center console combined with a fabric black roof lining and designo velour floor mats. It can also be distinguished by the "Mercedes-Benz" illuminated lettering on the sill plates, an AMG Line multi-function three-spoke sports steering wheel in black Nappa leather, as well as heated front seats covered in designo Nappa leather platinum white pearl or black.

All other things remain the same. The 2015 Mercedes C-Class will be launched with three engine options – C 220 BlueTec (diesel), C 180 and C 200. The diesel engine on the C 220 variant is a 2,143cc four-cylinder unit which outputs 167.67bhp and 400Nm and comes paired to either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. The petrol engine is a 155bhp 1.6-litre turbo for the C180, and 181bhp and 300Nm for the C 200 variant. However, considering this is a special edition, the number of engine options may be limited.

This new C-Class embodies Mercedes-Benz claim of ‘the best or nothing’ and that is why they have limited its production to the first year of the car’s production. The company has made known that the sale of the C-Class Edition 1 will begin April 7.
