The Aston Martin is a looker. Its style and charisma has even the world’s famous spy, James Bond, lusting after it. At the 84th Geneva Motor Show the British sportscar marquee had a public unveiling of special editions of the V8 Vantage N430 coupe/roadster and the DB9.
The N430 is powered by an upgraded V8 engine with power figures of 436ps at 7,300rpm, nearer to those of the V8 Vantage S. It does the 0-100kmph in 4.6 seconds. The dynamic sportscar gets powered through the rear wheels attached to a six-speed manual gearbox with the option of a seven-speed Sportshift II automated manual transmission.
The V8 engine is well complemented by a sports exhaust and its aerodynamics have been tuned to that of a race car. Another highlight of this car is its styling. This car celebrates Aston Martin's sporting heritage and motorsport success. The paint scheme is what draws our attention to it mainly. Graphite painted forged alloy wheels, black front grille, headlamp bezels, exterior meshes, side window surrounds, clear tail lamps with black surrounds gives it that air of a predator.
The interiors also get the royal treatment and machined carbon sill plaques, N430 seat logos, black magnesium paddle-shifts, a contemporary driver's instrument panel, leather steering wheel and unique trim seat patterns.
Priced from £89,995 (Rs 92.19 lakh), the first deliveries of the new N430 are expected to begin in September this year.
Besides the V8 Vantage N430, Aston Martin also showcased the dramatically conceived DB9 in Carbon Black and Carbon White special editions. There was the V12 Vantage to drool over. Design upgrades for both editions include carbon fibre side strakes and black window surrounds. Inside, in the cabin, they get bespoke sill plaques with the Carbon Black or Carbon White logo.
It’s a fact that only the extremely wealthy and collectors can afford an Aston Martin. They, like the Porsche and Ferrari cater to a clientele who believes in bespoke and customisation of their pricey rides. At the Motor Show, unlike others who were showing off their new cars, Aston Martin put up a lounge for their VIP clients. The lounge had paint samples, leathers and veneers displayed.
In India, we do get the Aston Martin V8 Vantage and the DB9, so in all probability these cars may make their way to the Indian shores. Being a special edition the price will be upped. So in case you are an Aston Martin fan and want to get your hands on one of these special editions, you had better keep your cheque book handy. How soon will it come? Too early to predict.
