Next-gen BMW 7 Series to come with an extended wheelbase?

If the battle for the best car in the world wasn’t enough, German auto major BMW is gearing up for another one- who makes the best luxury limousine? BMW wants to make sure that its share in this pie gets larger with the next-gen BMWG11- 7 Series, which could be available with an extended wheelbase (EWB) in the future, as indicated by the BMW blog.

BMW did come up with the L7 stretch Limousine in the 90s with a small insert after the B-pillar and it still managed to look sporty. The L7, however,  was made in limited numbers and was targeted at specific markets. There is a market for these cars more than ever as the rich list ever expanding.

However, it won’t be a cakewalk for BMW as come 2015, Mercedes will also launch the W222 S-Class with a EWB version. BMW fans asked for a M7 and the news of the biggest 7 Series emerges. BMW hasn’t confirmed yet, but this cannot be dismissed as rumours, as Mercedes have announced the EWB S-Class and the Maybach brand has been discontinued anyways.

The BMW 7 Series is expected in 2016 but will the EWB be launched along with the other variants? We can wait and watch.
