Bentley has given the green signal for an SUV and it will go into production in 2016. A report from Car UK suggests that the company will build 3500 units of the SUV (codenamed Falcon) at its factory in Crewe, UK and will invest close to 800 million GBP (Rs 722.62 Crore) to upgrade the facility by 2016. 
However, this is not the first SUV for the German owned British luxury car maker. The EXP 9 F Concept SUV that was shown at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show was their first attempt but was met much criticism thanks to its rather strange and some-what outrageous design.
The report reveals that Bentley is venturing into the SUV territory in a bid to cater to growing markets like Russia and China where the demand for such vehicles is quite high. This will be the first super luxury SUV from the VW umbrella and will be followed a year later by the Lamborghini Urus SUV another vehicle aimed at markets like China and Russia.
It is believed that Bentley Falcon (if it’s called that) will share many of its components with the next generation Audi Q5 which in turn is believed to sharing many of its components with the next generation Skoda Yeti. It is expected to get all the engine options from the Audi Q5 and this means at least two petrol and two diesel engines as well as manual and automatic transmission options. Four-wheel drive is likely to be made an optional extra, though it is becoming an increasingly popular option among European buyers.
