Hello all
First of all, let me thank Carwale for the suggestions offered in choosing my vehicle and accessories.for the past one month, I was searching through this board for info. Since this is my first 'my car',  my lack in 'car knowledge' was compensated by experienced people in carwale, and I believe I was able to make the best choice within my preferences and limitations.
22nd November, 2008
As Almost all the people who had booked Ikon diesel opted for Morello color, initially Kairaliford people informed me that I had to wait for one more week. They asked to make payement, so that they can make delivery at the earliest. While I was visiting ford one week before to hand over DD, I noticed (felt!) that colour morello is not that much attractive in road with slight dust and no decorations. So I opted for black . As black is also supposed to be tough to maintain a clean appearance, and belived to be prone to accedents, i think the colour is not in much demand. So On 22nd the executive called me and announced the vehicle is ready. Around 3.30PM a Black Ford Ikon TDCi ( Ford calls it Flair- in documents - same name for petrol version) was delivered to me in a ceremonious function accomapnied by photography.(Actually when the executive appeared with papers and a Digital Cam, I was thrilled thinking that the Camera was a offer.Later I told the executive about my 'expectation' and he laughed  at me with a pathetic look. (Probability He was surprised by the fact that I have no idea about Kairali Ford as a comapny).

Before leaving showroom they arranged a telephonic chat with their service manager. (He delivered some ready made statements and seems to be very confident that I will definitely need his services frequently!.)
As I have already arranged the accessory shop named Autoplus near stadium (north), the people were ready there in time. I proceed to the shop where 3M (cooling film) and autocop(Keyless entry) people were waiting. At 4.30 they started stripping down my new car and I waited as I did outside Labor room while my kids are about to be born. The difference was that there was no need for any concern here as it is a mechine here being handled.

Now about accessories- one by one
For the pioneer 6050 Grey,  he charged  Rs.8950/. Five days before he quoted Rs.8500/ and the rate has gone up, he said. I was not in a mood to fight or move to another shop, so agreed. For the rear speakers JBL 937 was not available so selected JBL947. Rs 4350.(W B/W) For the front speakers JBL637 and some low cost component system was tried, but non of them fits into the speaker slot on the door pad of ikon. The depth was not sufficient in the door (So he says!)for the speaker to be accommodated without obstructing the moving parts in the door assembly. Finally as he was a Blaupunkt dealer it was settled with a GTA542 speakers Rs 1900/.Then another Rs 650/ was charged for connectors, some pins etc.
Then for the areal.
As I am a HAM radio operator I intend to fix my 2M Base station in my Car. It requires some antenna to be mounted externally. So I prefered to use a internal antenna for 6050. I selected a Bosh make internal antenna which is a circular disc like part with two foil elements sticked to the front galss. I selected it .it cost Rs.900/ (Picture I will attache later) Reception seems to be ok. But it is a antennae with some built in active boosters and the performance need to be verified in some deep fringe areas.
The overall audio set up is ok. I felt if the speakers were on the top of the front panel like in TATA indigo sound would have been more better. I felt the audio system is reasonable (not excellent). Not yet tried by setting equalizer or good music files. Will do it later. In the mean time today morning no audio fron amy speaker just like mute. System playing but nothing heard. have to check.
That is about audio system

Congrats on your new wheels.

I am happy to hear about your car and at the same time sad about your ICE.
The rear speakers selected are good(thoda zyada hain). Cant say much about the front ones. Hope you are not dissatisfied with it.

Now cooling films.
I opted for 3M. - front cost me Rs.4750/ and side Rs.2150/.( He offered low cost versions, but for obvious reasons I told him we can do the best item- So it end up like that !) Said to be with 5 year warranty. Not a big issue I think. If it is to be 'bubbled' it will happen in short time, else it wont create any problem. Then 5 Years..mm anything can happen in that time.
But actually I told him that I do not want very dark glasses which can attract frequent checking by police personal.(As the police is afraid of real terrorists or bomb carrying people,(!) they will suddenly sprung into action when they  get a chance to harass a 'suspect' whom they feel not dangerous.) But he went to the extreme, the glass is now very light. Sometimes it seems no film at all. But cooling I think is ok, because I drove in the bright sun and found comfortable.Night anti-glare effect is good. Considerable reduction in glare from high beam head lights i there.
I think detailed reports of effects can be possible only after driving a few 100 kms.

I will take photographs and post within two days

Now key less entry from Autocop.
Nothing special,  Usual features I think.Rs 2850.

Then reverse Guard Rs 3200/
Useful while parking in a well defined area.

Then a leather steering cover Rs 475/
Floor mat Rs 645/

I replaced the head lamps with Philips (Some sort of a while light) Good while light. Rs 900/ pair.

Then Horn. The stock horn is the most nasty horn I have ever heard. I replaced it with a Stebel nautillis. (Thanks Benoy for the suggestion). This is the most thrilling accessory I have in my Car.(For me!) I think it is a Air Horn type and How the police will treat it in city is to be realised in time.
I have skipped seat cover for the time being. The current accessory cost exceeded Rs 35000/ including shampoo, washing Leather(Rs 600/), perfume etc.
I thought let the beige seat cover be there for the time being. Soon it will change its color. Then I can cover it. It will give me some time also to regain my spending capacity.

Now about driving experience.
Since I have previous experience only in old generation cars like maruthy, Ambassador and Indigo, everything is a pleasure.

Drive has sufficient power, comfortable, So far I have driven some 250kms.

Gears. I felr the First gear has got some problem to transfer to. Many times While I am about to move the vehicle it was still in neutral. I am not saying that it gives you excess pressure to pull into first gear or noisy situation. Nothing like. But the mechanism wont pull it self into the gear by sensing the intention from your arms. If you remember about this problem and really pull it into position, it is ok. Usually for ex. in logan the gear is soo smooth that if you move your arm in the direction ,the gear will pull it self in!
I am not suggesting this as a huge problem, but something I noticed at least in my ikon..

Then another problem of all ikon owners, we cant see the back to take the reverse course. Sensor is a must . You have to depend on rear view side mirrors and sensors. The ikon has back of much hight .(I think it is real.) If you turn back and look through the back glass you cant see the immediate back as you can with other vehicles. This is a big problem in the first week of purchase. I think then we will get adjusted.

It is crystal vision with same watts (55W)
Actually I didn't opted for more power for which the reflectors are not designed for. This I think reasonable light for my purpose (Speed!) plus a while light  look of new cars.

Nice write and photos Roy-Congrats on the buy-Stunning in black color.

As Ameen put it the ICE was a bit 'HOT'-korachokae vettichu-esp on the price and the 947 rear.

Go through the manual carefully and run the car slowly.First start(morning)keep the car idling for a min and then only drive.

Drive safe-and the Nautilis has been 'checked' by the police(in my old santro) and they could not make out that it was a air pumped based one(just dont tell them so!LOL).

Waiting for the snaps.
