        Specifications

        • Engine & Transmission

          • Engine
            2179 cc, 4 Cylinders Inline, 4 Valves/Cylinder, DOHC

Timely services will keep a motor efficient and in top shape.

          • Engine Type
4 cylinder mHawk CRDe diesel engine

The official title given by the manufacturer in terms of the name of the engine, the displacement and the number of cylinders.

A bigger displacement and more than four-cylinders generally indicate a performance-oriented engine.

          • Fuel Type
            Diesel

All cars in India either run on petrol, diesel, CNG, LPG or electric power.

          • Max Power (bhp@rpm)
            120 bhp @ 4000 rpm

Gives a good idea of the performance of the vehicle under full thrust. A higher figure here usually means a higher top speed as well.

Higher the power, the peppier the engine but it can also affect fuel economy.

          • Max Torque (Nm@rpm)
            290 Nm @ 1800 rpm

Relates to in-gear acceleration. A higher figure here means better roll-on acceleration, fewer gear shifts, and possibly better fuel efficiency.

The more torque at low RPM range makes the engine feel more responsive. It also allows the engine to run smoothly without too many gear changes.

          • Mileage (ARAI)
            15.4 kmpl

This is the maximum fuel efficiency that an engine gives. All numbers are provided by the manufacturer based on tests conducted and specified by the standards of the ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India)

Such fuel efficiency attained while driving in special conditions makes it unlikely to get it in real-world conditions

          • Drivetrain
            RWD

Cars come with different drivetrain configurations depending on the segment.

Front-wheel drive (FWD) is most common in mainstream cars while expensive cars or SUVs come with rear-wheel drive (RWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD).

          • Transmission
            Manual - 5 Gears

Type of transmission used to transfer power from the engine to the wheels

A manually operated transmission is the most popular type, thanks to its simplicity and low cost. Varied types of automatic transmissions are also available.

        • Dimensions & Weight

          • Length
            4430 mm

The length of the car decides its segment. In India, cars that are less than 4 metres in length enjoy reduced excise duties.

            Length
            • Length: 4430

Longer length results in more cabin space. It also adds to straight line stability.

          • Width
            1817 mm

A car's width is defined as its widest point without its mirrors.

            Width
            • Width: 1817

Although more width gives you more lateral space inside the cabin, it makes the car more difficult to park in narrow spots.

          • Height
            1975 mm

The height of the car denotes the highest point of the vehicle from the ground.

            Height
            • Height: 1975

Taller the car, the more headroom there is on offer inside the cabin. However, a tall boy stance also affect the car’s centre of gravity which can cause more body roll.

          • Wheelbase
            2680 mm

The space between the center of the front and rear wheels.

            Wheelbase

The longer the wheelbase, the more space there is inside the cabin.

          • Ground Clearance
            180 mm

It’s the space between the lowest point of the car and the ground.

            Ground Clearance
            • Ground Clearance: 180

If the car has a good amount of clearance, it’s easier for it to clear big speed breakers and overall, deal with bad roads.

        • Capacity

          • Doors
            5 Doors

            3 Rows

Smaller cars usually have two rows which can seat five, but some SUVs and MPVs have three rows and can seat around 7-8 passengers.

          • Fuel Tank Capacity
            60 litres

The official volume of the fuel tank of a car, usually denoted in litres.

If a car has a large fuel tank, it can cover long distances without refuelling.

          • Front Suspension
independent with coil spring & anti roll bar

Almost all cars in India use an independent front suspension which is usually the MacPherson Strut type.

          • Rear Suspension
            Mulit-link coil spring

The rear suspension can either be non-independent or independent.

Most of the budget cars have non-independent suspension while the more expensive ones get independent rear suspension which offers better bump absorption.

          • Front Brake Type
            Disc

Most of the vehicles sold in India get ventilated or non-ventilated disc brakes upfront.

            - The ventilated discs are more popular thanks to them providing better stopping power and it also works well in hot conditions.

          • Rear Brake Type
            Drum

In affordable cars, drums brakes are fitted at the rear as they are cost effective.

Shorter the turning radius, the lesser space you need to make a tight turn or to take a U-turn.

        • ROCK AND ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Exterior Exterior is rough and sturdy and have a macho look, this is where the scorpio takes away MAXIMUM marks, the chequered flag design on the bonnet and the body adds to its beauty, the bonnet scoop also makes scorpio mighty and muscular, but the beading and GUM used for the front windshield is of low quality and it often troubles you,the PAINT quality is pretty decent and the roof antenna is also of poor quality. Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The Dash board is not very impressive, and the plastics used for them are of cheap quality, the GLOVE BOX only works for some months and all the other time it will be open, this is also because of cheap materials used, compared to TATA Safari the glove box is a waste, the power window switches in LX model comes between the driver and passanger for all 4 windows and thats too irritating, there is lots of space but you cant keep a bottle in a safe place, its like a playground,no organisation of space, the front seats are comfortable for a long drive otherwise the middle row you will be rolling your body all over, its good not to say about the back BABY seats. They are HORRIBLE. You cant sit for 50 Kms in the back seats. Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Here the scorpio scores more, the engine performance is good, pretty good, gear box and gear shifting is decent but its not like a feeling of CAR..its OK for an SUV,sound and vibration of the engine is not there,Fuel economy is 10 to 11,but the bad thing is its got HIGH TORQUE which results in difficulty to drive in city, you must be pressing the clutch always otherwise it will be moving,The A.C is pretty good and has a good cooling efficiency in sharp summers, the only problem is of clutch which becomes hard after 40000 kms. Ride Quality & Handling This is HORRIBLE,though the Scorpio runs like a beast you are not sure when the vehicle will ROLL,the performance of the Engine ROCKS but the Body ROLLS,it is uncontrollable in loose soil, must drive carefully or else there will be ROLL. Final Words Good vehicle for a responsible driver. Not for others. Areas of improvement ROLL ROLL ROLL.Mahindra Scorpio has the best looks any other economic SUV in INDIA,it ROCKSPoor interior design, very cheap plastics used for dash and interiors,BODY ROLL...........

Good  front seat leg room Interior BAD MIDDLE SEAT leg room. Engine Performance Clutch & Transsimission should improve a lot had a shift problem from 3rd to 4th and to top had been shifting from 3rd to top for almost 80-100 Kms till reaching the service Station got it done, after the second servicea at 10,000 Kms Compleated 16,000 Kms as on date but for the Road grip nothing major, spped upto 120 yor are safe and after that the braking is bad. Fuel Economy 9 in the city and 10.5 to 11 on the highways with a consistent speed of 100-120 Gearbox &  Transmission will have to improve Bad Clutch. Ride Quality & Handling the standard Mahindra style used to the MM540 for ages so a better. Will have to improve on the rattling & Door noise. Final Words Bought it with lots of Expectations but the usual desi style vechile. Areas of improvement Cluth transmission & the interior Plastics.Great Boot Space even when the rear seats are folded (in 9 seater)Middle row Could have been better More of average Plastic components, Should atleast Improve
