      Exterior

The Paint Quality is very Good. Outer Door Handles look old in 4 months time. ORVM Scalp is unpainted and after some days looks Old. Tail Lamps are awesome. New Wheel Caps give a fresh Look to the Car. Front Grille Look was better in the 3 Chrome lining than the New Painted type. I expect more chrome on the Exterior.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

Seats are very Comfortable. Good for long Driving. Beige Interiors are very Good.Gives a fresh look and gives a Longing feeling to be in the Car. Door Trim quality is very Good. Armrest is at a comfortable height with Good reach of Power window switch.  Boot Space is very Good for 3 big Luggage bags. However Sliding of Front Seats is not smooth. Seat Recliners are of Poor Quality. Car is Spacious than i10 in both Rows. 2nd Row can easlity accomodate 3 Adults. Parcel Tray Quality is very Poor. Glove box lock is of Poor Quality and Finish.

Silver Paint Finish on Air Vents and Center Bezel is very Poor. Fading has started in less than 6 months of use. Steering Wheel quality is 3rd Class. Horn Cover to Steering Wheel finish is very Poor. Is sharp at corners.

AC performance is Good when 2 people are in the Car. When the number of people are more, comfort levels are reduced drastically. AC reach to 2nd Row takes very long time. I expect a very Good AC in Mumbai Conditions. Pop Up knob is small to hold and pull.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

Engine is Smooth. Fuel Economy is only 11 to 12 Kmpl (in Mumbai with AC working) which is lesser than a Maruti car in same price band. I bought this car for a Better Mileage but did not get so.

Weird humming noise when Vehicle is brought to Halt. Pick Up from 0-60 is moderate. Engine Needs to have a better torque.

Gearshit in 3rd to 2nd; and 5th to 4th is very irritating. Crashing noise in 2nd and 5th Gear happens some times and the Engaging is not swift.

      Ride Quality & Handling

Turning is very Good at Lower to Moderate Speeds. Power Steering is amazing, gives a Good Grip on Road. Vehicle tends to get unstable beyond 90kmph. Lane changing in 5th Gear (above 80kmph) does not seem to be smooth and fearless. Very poor to react on Potholes or uneven Surfaces. Rear Suspension needs Major tweak.

      Final Words

A Good Value for the Money paid. But not excellent.

      Areas of improvement

Mileage needs to be improved atleast by 2 Km/Hr in AC. Rear Suspension needs to be more adpative to Poor Road Conditions.

NVH, Smooth Ride, Good Power Steering,Stability above 80kmph, AC performance, Mileage, Bumpy in 2nd Row

Well .....I purchased this car recently and this is my first car so I am very much excited about it.Not sure if this is too early to write anything in this forum. From day 1 I was sure that I am going to buy Santro GL so never tried any other car. It's been for one week I am driving this car and I love it.I'd learned the driving 1 year back and after 1 year when I started driving with this new car, it's like cruising on the road. It's so easy to drive and the performance is absolute great .AC is fantastic.Pick up is great and onroad performance is superb .In heavy traffic I faced some problems(as I am new driver),however got hold of the same in couple of days.Overall I'd say,it's a fantastic car in it's segment .Also the car dealer (Sanjay Hyundai,Pune) is very nice with their customer services, however their service centre is not up to the mark as far as customer service is concerned, as they have many Lazy people who doesn't understand what is called as customer service. They have very few good people who really listens to you. It's good to go there and speak to the Manager directly.I strongly suggest everyone who want to have a small , comfortable ,reasonably priced, easy care and less maintenance car......should buy Santro.Absolute easiness while drivingNot yet found any

      Exterior Good.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) There is no bluetooth facility. Only 2 GB pen drive works in the integrated music system. There is a cup holder which is just placed near handbrake. I don't understand why it is placed there because if someone is driving, he/she can not place cup there because handbrake will be covering that. What's the use of putting cup holder there?

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Smooth engine with minimum noise. I am not at all happy with fuel economy. My car gives me an average of only 8 km/litre and 18 km/kg in CNG. Gearbox is not smooth at all. It always gives me problem in 1st gear, 2nd gear and reverse. It got struck always while doing so.

Ride Quality & Handling Very good.

Final Words Not happy with average and gearbox problems, otherwise, I am happy with my car.

Areas of improvement Gearbox, fuel economy, bluetooth and defogger. There is also no vanity mirror for the co-passenger. I feel sometimes jurking when I start my car in the winter. It happens only in the 1st and 2nd gear. I don't know whether people feel the same kind of problem as I am facing currently. Please share your thoughts.

CNGAverage in Petrol and CNG, No fog lamp and defogger in top model,

      hi all

I haev been owning this car for some time now, and all i can say is "its total fun". really smooth, peppy engine, AC is ok and seems to use some gas which does not harm the ozone layer, so a Sunshine car as hyundai puts it....

      Problems:
      1. As i am 6.3ft tall, during long drive i did get some knee pain while driving cos of a bit akward placed pedals i guess, not sure why !!
      2. while trying out sudden curves, the rear part of teh car seems to be throwing itself all around, may be cos of some suspension thing.

the best part is the leg room, my god !!! its really good... honestly i can fit in easily... i guess even if a person is around 6.7 ft, he can fit in easily too... best leg room ...

final verdict : Go for it !!!! i recomend this car
Seating Space, Road view, Driving ease.. all in all a fun car to driverear suspension is stiff, under long drives u may feel some knee pain

I bought this car 1.5 years ago, every thing is good but its milage is realy shocking I am getting LPG milage of only 8-9 km/ltr in city & 10 km/ltr on highway, where as on petrol it is aprx. 12 km/ltr only. I have complained several times to the lucknow dealer but they could not improve it even they dont have any equipment to check the milage/performance at their service center every time when i send my car for service at M/s Beear moters with the mialage complaint they just only wash and do regular services and return my car with no change in milage problem. the service centers are only botherd about their marking/ grading even if you say about the problem uncleared they dont respond or take any action to rectify. I have told my problem several times  to the Hyundai Service cetere and also  to the hyundai company but even though the sceanario is unchanged till date & my hard earned money is wasted on LPG.

Hence please beaware of Hyundai Santro promises its all fake.

      Thanks,

      Aditya,

      Lucknow.

Exterior:  The cars's stance is quite comfortable for a tall person like me (5' 9") to get in & get out. exterior body finish & paint quality is top notch. ground clearance is well suited for indian roads. Body strength is OK. My car hasn't develped any cracks or rusting of any sorts even after 54K ( &5 yrs) in sun and rain.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort): The interiors are basic and well suited, i have the earliest of the XOs with nice door trims with fabric inserts & elegant PW switches (i guess the latest Santro doesn't come with that trim). Overall driver's visibility is nice, albeit at sharp corners where the A-pillar somewhat obstructs the view. The interior's plastic finish is also good, with no gaps or misalignments. plastic finish beats the likes of Alto, Wagon R by a comfy margin. Though, after these years, there is some occassional door noise coming from the rubber packing and all.The AC performance is perfect for a small car, and even after 5 odd years i needn't have to push the AC to its full speed , even in the harshest of Delhi summers, and also i just got it (the AC!) serviced only once in these 5 yrs.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox: The eRLx engine, is very smooth and refined for a car of this segment. You can feel minimum vibrations in the steering wheel at traffic stops. The real beauty though is the gear box, with swift and assured shifts which is a real pleasure. The Alto & WagonR Gears feel like an" iron rod drilled into stones", after driving a Santro- that is purely my personal experience with no harm meant to the Maruti owners. The foot pedals also operate with minimum effort & play, which again is in stark contrast to Alto, where one has to make a real effort to depress even the accelerator pedal. The milage which i have been getting with my Santro still hovers around 15-16 Km/L, after these 5 yrs, and regular services by the same authorised dealer only (Safdarjang motors, Gurgaon). The Engine & petrol additives which these guys pour, really helps. Its really heartening that after these 5 years, the car shows no  signs of ageing, be it the pickup or pushing it to higher speeds (I'v touched 100-105 few times).

Ride Quality & Handling: Driving position is perfectly OK for short drives, but after some hrs. one can feel the strain due to lack of lumber supprt & an acute ankle angle on the accelerator pedal. here, the dead clutch pedal is a nice little add on. The steering though is very precise and light, the car maneuvers like a breeze in rush hour traffic and tight parking lots. The handling is great, but the car sways sideways at sharp corners and bumps, that's i guess due to the Tall-Boy design. The rear seat space is again adequate for 3 people for shorter drives, with just enough leg space. Though, the tyre noise from the road is quite noticable, but the same can be reduced by quite a margin if you  go for a broader 165mm tubeless tyres, in that case the ride also smoothens by a fair margin.

Final Words: The perfect first car! you just can't go wrong with this car. Even after 54K Kms my car didn't give me a single breakdown, except for the 4-5 tyre puntures in my Bridgstones. It's a tried and tested machine, and asks you nothing but to maintain it as per the schedule.

Areas of improvement  It would be great if that sideways sway is eliminated somehow.

steering handling, drivability, fit & finish, smooth gearboxawkward ankle position while driving, sways sideways on turns & bumps

On April 25, 2007 my two and a half year old Hyundai Santro Xing Santro engine failure 26,000 kms & 2 1/2 years only (also known as Hyunda Amica and Hyundai Atos in some markets - the car is exported in large numbers from India) suddenly stopped in the middle of the road. On towing to KUN Hyundai in Mount road, Chennai (Madras) I was told that the crankshaft has failed and needs to be replaced. Today I was told that several other parts of the engine have also failed. Mr.Balaji (Mobile no: 9840428764) of KUN Hyundai says that the repairs will be very expensive (more than Rs.35,000, which is more than 10% of the car's on-road price) and can return the car only after 10 days. Apparently spares are not available in Chennai and the engine also needs machining. My car was purchased in November 2004 (just 2 1/2 years ago), has done only about 26,000 Kms and has had regular services at authorised service centers (MPL and KUN), the last one just 2 weeks ago. I read about a similar complaint about a Santro purchased in November 2004; the link is below - http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/hyundai-santro-xing-c2582.html (Posted: 2006-12-05 by Thomsson A Jobin Crankshaft of my Santro Xing 2004 model is defective I purchased a Santro xing from Hyundai from a Kerala dealer of Hyundai India. The product did just 28000 kms and its crankshaft failed in just less than two years time and shockingly the company is not acknowledging this fact. I request all Santro Owners who purchased their cars around November 2004 to check their vehicle. I have raised the issue with company and am looking forward to their response on this issue and have not received any response till date.) I am very surprised that the crankshaft and engine of my car have failed so early. The car was purchased from MPL Hyundai and since they have shut down it is being serviced regularly at KUN Hyundai, Chennai; good fuel from popular petrol bunks is used; it is driven sedately in the city of Chennai only. 21st century petrol car engines are designed/ manufactured to last more than 2 lakh kilometers without any major repair; I am shocked with my bad experience. I bought this car in November 2004 after reading reviews and road tests on the internet, various auto and car magazines and talking to relatives and friends who had this car. Not one review or road test in November 2004 or my circle of contacts who had the Santro had faced such problems. May be the November 2004 batch or this particular car engine has some manufacturing defect. Here are more links: http://www.overdrive.in/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1487&highlight=santro+engine http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/long-term-ownership-reports/23551-hyundai-santro-xing-crankshaft-engine-repair-failure-only-26000-kms-2-1-2years.html http://www.indiacar.com/messageboard/reply.asp?msg_id=30459 Would like to hear from others with similar problems and suggestions on how to deal with this problem. My daughter and me browsed the web for more than six months. Finally my daughter selected this car who preferred it to Wagon R. We are all big in size (vertical and horizontal!!!) and this car is very much ideal. Many a time, I am not aware - especially at the signals, whether the engine is on or off. Such a silent engine.. but very efficient when its on move.. wow.. we drove it at 120 KMPH, nothing is felt inside.. no jolt, shake, jerk nothing that too on indian country roads.. What a car..!! I got my daughter what she wanted for having selected this car.Smooth and pleasurable driving, comfort of an aircraft and safe travelNothing in particular

I am a proud owner of santro white dec 2006 model.
I had driven it for 240000 i.e. more then 2Lakh kms out of it 180000 on cng my car cost had recovered and i feel i had used it the most rugged manner been to nepal, ladakh, 20 time to lensdown [jungle resort] , even once 6 people with luggage for 18 days to Pindari glacier.  this car is truly a master piece. I had expanded around 70,000 rs more as 4 times all tyres were replaced and engine overall after 2lakh km still on petrol this car is giving me an average without ac on hills of 18KM/Ltr and on cng ac on 20Km/kg.
I would recommend you all to go for it if you are a rough driver like me till now 2 times I had changed chasis as my car went with accidents 2 times and after accidents also we finished our tour and came back to delhi from punjab and 2nd time from bagheswar hills . I have no issues with car this car has given me enough just imagine from delhi to manali to rohtangpass to zero point then to laddakh with only 2 stoppage in between and 6 people were there. another instance is we drove it for nonstop 3days 2nights with some necessary halts of 15 to 30 min. after every 6 to 8 hrs.
this car can really be like a suv I had placed rubber [gutka] on the rear shockers so that i can get 20mm of ground clearance more .

I recommend to users that go for santro if you drive rough not concious about speed breakers or pits.

I am very satisfied with it I will go for a new car only becaust of space as my backspace is occupied with cng cyllender now i am seeing suv.

i am seeking for a diesel car now plus space my first preference is ford fusion then tata safari 3rd is scorpio

no doubt ford fusion is good in fuel economy plus cheaper then two kindly suggest me as i had heard ford do not give good services.

Strong body , fuel economy , very rugged like suvless spacious
