Below are some points I found out for i20 Magna. Please add if you have any more thoughts.

      1. Engine is 1197 cc, same as i10 which should have been upgraded, but still it gives overall good performance. Kappa in my opinion is just a marketing word and should not make much difference. 0-60 in abt 10-12 seconds is almost double its current competitor, hence should have been taken care. Sluggish in 2nd gear as well.

      2. Mileage in city with AC should be 10-12 in city and 16-18 on highways which is a decent result in my opinion as compared to swift.

      3. Audio system (kenwood) inside is of good quality although its nonsense to remove the USB attachment from Magna.

      4. Alloy wheels/rear wiper/height adjustable seats/keyless entry/front fog lamps are not of a big concern for Magna, although ABS is way to costly to incorporate.

      5. Looks/space/interior finish and digital displays/plastic quality are way too better than its current competitors in the market which are intoxicating.

      6. Hyundai normally charges high at launch, so price can drop at the arrival of Honda Jazz. Although it should depend on current market demand. So its dicey whether one should wait or not.

Conclusion: if ready to sacrifice a bit of power on your right foot with style/finish/space, there is no better option than i20 (i will go for Magna only), otherwise go for swift.

Exterior Exterior is simply superb, the ORVM turn indicators adds style, rear of car is little broader than front so short U-turns is a bit difficult especially while parking, high bonnet adds pedestriants safety.centre moulding in hood makes it appear like mercedes SLK.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) i20 stands first compared to other Indian hatches in the interior style, features, space. The rear AC vents under the front seats are useless. The flat bed folding rear seats increases trunk area it makes it more spacious. The sports edition if equipped with seat height adjustment would make short people more comfortable.Climate control works fine but not that efficient.Electric ORVM makes it convinent while entering narrow passages.Medium quality audio system. The gear indicator displays the gear in which it has to be driven, it helps increase mileage.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

The first and second gear is set with very low RPM it makes it easy to mave in city, but needs quick switch to 3rd gear. Placing the gear liver in 1st is little bit difficult, otherwise gear changes are smooth, car reaches upto 95Kmph quickly then slowly increases. The top speed in my test was 165Kmph. It took 55sec from 100 to 165 in 5th.

Ride Quality & Handling The clutch makes a long play, driving is very smooth. the motor driven power steering makes it more easiy to handle tilt and telescopic steering wheel suites all. At high speeds braking distance is very long, steering is very smooth and high responsive, so it should be driven carefuly above 85. otherwise its superb.

Final Words Looks hatchback feels Sedan.

Areas of improvement   Rear AC vent should be placed on the roof.

Interiors: Great dash board desing, feel good factor on the interiors part,It has all the features(asta) With refridgerated glove box,6-airbags,Auto A/C.With less space on the rear and also the depth of the seat is smaller when compared to swift or Vista.

Exteriors: The front look is like a bigger i-10 type with big head lamps, sides look more or less like n i-10,rear looks differant by its stretched tail lamps,

It has features like elec adjtle/movable-mirrorsout side. With bigger boot.It hgas the same Kappa(4 cylinder 4 valve) engine of i-10 but 80 ps.The engine tech is new for the hydai cars but the 4cylinder 4 valve  is there in WAGON-R since it launch.KAPPA just a marketing word given nothing really new.

THE best part about the hyndai cars is their built finish,it is as good as a toyota, honda, but they realy have to bring new tech rather giving marketing names to the regular technologies.

Eg: Honda-- hybrid,Fiat-- multijet diesel.etc,Radical styling like Skoda.

Theres still lot to go for hyndai to be considered as the best in tech n styling.

I-20 GOOD ON FEATURES,TOO HEAVY ON UR POCKET.

      Features,good dash bord design,bigger boot.Less spacious,too expensive to its style n offering.

After a 3 month long search and being shocked by the attitude of Maruti showrooms on swift desire, I finaly decided to shell out 5.7 Lacs for i 20 magna in Hyderabad( ex showroom:4.9L). I have been driving it for a month and 600 Km now. Considering the strange limitation on the number of words, let me try to keep this review short and straight.

Exterior  Looks : This is the strongest card in the "ubercool" image which Hyundai advertises for this car. It is really a head turner specialy in darker colors. LArge teardrop Head light assemby, front grille, neat rear taillights, side trims and the huge bonnet all help to make it one of the sexiest looking cars on the indian roads now( Swift is miles behind even though it is finaly a matter of personal taste). The Hyundai design team in Rosselheim ,Germany must be commended on this matrepiece of design.
Safety: Even though i 20 advertises "5 star" on safety ratings( as is stickered on the rear windshield of i 20), I doubt if the lower versions like Magna and Asta can boast of safety. On the other hand, the Asta (O) is the only car in this segment which sports 6 airbags and can therefore claim the 5 star. Apart from the airbags, i 20 body panels are made of thicker gauge galvannealed steel ( not the regular cold rolled variety used by its competitors) and hence may claim to be more corrosion resistant and impact proof. ABS should have been offered as a standard feature in all versions.

Powertrain : The tweaked i 10 1.2 L Kappa petrol engine produces 80 bhp in i 20 and for a car which is 150Kg heavier than i10, this may not be enough!Definitely u will need to change gears frequently in order to get the peppy "Swift" feeling. Not recommended for those who also have a "sporty" side to their driving personality. I am yet to test high speed overtaking performance(quite afraid to do so, actualy)

Interior Comfort :Seating comfort is definitely sedan class and 3 people can seat comfortabely in the rear.Due to the higher ground clearance, getting in and out is not a issue. The two tone interiors again give a classy feel to the hatch.AC vent in the glove box is a unique feature which may not be used frequently(unless u want to keep surprise chocolates for ur girlfriend in the glove box!)Boot space is 280L and again class leading. Guys who consider the swift desire only for boot space(400L) should see this car once. Here, i also have to admit the very accurate and easy electric power steering. My Swift owner friends were pleasantly surprised with the EPS. The suspension is not very good and the thud is heard and felt in the notorious Indian potholes and bumps. Otherwise, sound insulation in the cabin is excellent and your own horn seems to be low powered if all the windows are up!

Airconditioning and Audio: The AC definitely is designed for Europian climates and any MAruti car scores miles over the i 20 AC. At present with temperatures soaring over 40 degrees in HYd, I sweat in i20 even in the 3rd point on the AC blower. The Audio is realy good and the 4 speakers with 2 tweaters do a decent job. Good thing about i 20 is that even the base model(magna) comes factory fitted with a good audio as this. Auxilary i pod port is available in magna  while additional USB port is in Asta and above.
Milage : My car is yet to go for first service and it is too early to talk about milage. Just for ref: my first full tank( 43L) lasted 450 Km( hence about 10-11Kmpl with 100% AC in city)

Verdict: I am not a big Hyundai fan but I think they have got it right this time in adressing the gap of a global standard hatch in Indian market. Having said that, I also have to admit that the pricing is also Global with no discounts whatsoever. Would have been rightly priced if it was around 30-40K cheaper.

i got the i20 magna 3 weeks back and since then i have been driving it to office which is about 35kms from my home. this takes me about 1hr10mins during morning and about 2hrs in the evening. well, u must be wondering why i have pointed out the time i take. such is the traffic in bangalore and to my biggest surprise, the car gave me almost 13.6kmpl. i just got back yesterday from kerala covering a distance of about 1500km (to and fro) and it gave me about 15kmpl with 100% AC, carrying 4 people and approximately 70% highway(good road). well....that was about the mileage part. the design is awesome...just that people take time to actually realize its beauty, just like i did. many of my friends said that it looked much better than its closest rival in swift and i did feel it too.it may have the same engine and everything as that of the i10 but i feel its worth spending more for that extra interior and boot space. its low height might be a little of inconvenience to older people to get in and out but it can easily seat 5 inside. the interior finishes and the console is pretty good and of good quality material. the digital display recessed on the dash, water refrigerator inside the dash are just some of the cool features inside it. the driving comfort was superb and we were ready for another long drive just after having got back from kerala. yes...the car is low in its clearance and the driver has to be very careful on the humps and pot holes. one cannot call it a drawback as such but the car isn't very effective in overtaking. would want to just share some of my thoughts. keep in mind that 3rd gear is the best for acceleration for this car. 1st would take you till about 20kmph, 2nd to 50kmph, 3rd to 80kmph, 4th to 100kmph, and 5th for further ahead. these speeds mentioned here are just for acceleration while overtaking and i felt these were pretty effective. the maximum speed that we reached during the trip was 140kmph and it was still handy and comfortable. in the overall, the car is a good purchase. one would have to consider the lag in delivery but certainly this is one that wouldn't disappoint you. so, my word is...GO FOR IT...rest is upto to you to decide... All the best fellas... Mani Kuruvila Architectgood style, good interiors, driving comfort, good fuel economylow ground clearance, not so good acceleration

I have seen i20 and test driven it. Overall conclusion about the car I got is its not worth of spending 1.5lacs over i10.

      1. Boot space is good and the interior space is as same r a bit uncomfortable than swift.

      2. Paying 1.5lacs more just for styling.....? think twice. I feel its not necessary.

      3. The same engine i.e., 1.2litre petrol engine which is used in i10 and moreover i20 is a heavier vehicle compared to i10. This result in low pickup of the vehicle which i personally felt after sriving.

      4. And the mileage part i haerd it gives 10-12. Too less for a 1.2litre engine when swift is giving 15kmpl.

So finally ....Guys think twice b4 taking this car....Less pickup, Less mileage, Expensive, Not great comfor except the boot space. And ur paying 1.5 lacs for just styling and other features. Not really worth. Moreover it looks like a very modified GETZ. These days people want refreshing looks.

Consider SWIFT and CITY which are completely different from then existing models. So Hyundai good luck next time and try something new like SUZUKI and HONDA.

Just wait for Punto & Jazz to launch in June and then see the price of I20 crashing by atleast 10%. Wait, if you are not in a hurry. Otherwise better go for I10 and save a lac. Alternatively SWIFT, the best value for money. And then why not A Star and save furtherStylePrice

i20 Diesel is a good car. Space, features, power, mileage etc. its good. However, it semms Car makers are following foot-prints of HONDA. i20 is too over-priced. Specially, after FIAT has re-written rules for VALUE FOR MONEY  products.

How much is the cost of ABS? Rs.25000. CD Player Rs.15000. Its better to Buy Diesel Saloon like LINEA than i20 Diesel. Please click on the link below:

Going for very powerful engine makes NO sense as traffic may not allow you to use the large number of Horses delivered by engine. Recall late 1980s sensation MARUTI 1000. It was speed-ster. No one complaiened just 993 C.C. 45 BHP engine. Then in early 1990s CIELO with 1.5 Ltr 80 BHP, among popular cars, Honda came with BHP running in 3-digit (and prices shooting up). Then why make so much noise now and pay huge amount??

Its time for Indians to get aware, how much they are being ROBBED. There shouldnt be any thing like brand loyality, else you are financially drained.

      Happy & Fully aware driving

The advantage of the i20 lies in the fact that you get a lot of car for very little money. By falling under the 1.2 litre engine and the under 4 metre length tax bracket the i20 manages to keep a relatively inexpensive price tag, which by the way is just 5.88 lakh in ahmedabad. So Hyundai have managed to stuff her to the gills and more, and all of it is packaged tightly in very neat trim that speaks volumes of just how classy Hyundai have gotten. The sportz variant we tested comes with driver  airbags, a geek-loving audio system that will hook up with any portable audio device, a multi information digital display and climate control. But what you don’t expect to get is the kind of space reserved for a C-segment entrant. There’s loads of leg and shoulder space in the rear bench area and you also get a very useful boot. That makes it a very practical and utilitarian car.

And slightly boring in the bargain for the enthusiast driver, it must be said! You cannot get both fantastic fuel efficiency and fantastic performance rolled into a single package. Forget it! So since the i20 does some 14.5 kmpl in the city and 18.5kmpl on the highway you get a 0-100 sprint of 13.36 seconds. Not slow but not too fast either and certainly nothing that is going to have the enthusiasts lining up outside the showrooms. Quarter mile is demolished in 19 seconds and she will push herself to a (mere?) 147kmph. This is a basic attribute of her gearbox which is attuned to easing revs for better efficiency not rushing them on to glorious 0-100 times.

The person Hyundai is looking at attracting, however, is a more sensible more mature clientele for whom the over-servoed steering works wonderfully. It’s so light that it requires little more than one finger to execute a lock to lock turn. Sadly the lightness does not go away when on the highway which is what enthusiasts are looking for so that there is a bit more precision and confidence evoked. Enthusiastic wheel twirling is not a rewarding sensation and mountain road bashing is not at this Hyundai's heart of hearts.

Nevertheless Hyundai have built in a fantastic braking system which has ABS with EBD to make it stop on a dime. 100-0 takes just 43.02 metres and 80-0 is done in 26.86 metres. Now go look at what the competition has to offer, go ahead take a look, and be amazed.

In the overall the i20 comes across as a very competent car and one that will do quite well for the short inner city commute, creating little fuss and enhancing ownership costs. And that in this day and age is all that the masses ask for from their personal wagons.

GOOD FUEL ECONOMYDriving seat high is very poor.

hyundai comes out with cars that are best suited for the indian roads. i20 is a beautiful car and it has all the features of a sedan but since it has the same kappa engine of the i10 then why will one pay nearly 1 lakh more as i10 sportz 1s 4.7 lakhs and the i20 asta is 5.85 lskhs and the only additional features are the fog light which will cost rs.5000 and tha ABS which will be around rs. 15,000. so this is why i feel the car is overpriced... the swift comes with a 1300cc engine and the highest model of it that has all the features of the i20 asta is priced at rs. 5.45 lakhs.. thus the rice should have been under 5.50 lakhs...

gives a good feel i.e. with it's interiors.... good to drive as it has anexcellent gear box...it is quite overpriced. it comes with the same engine of i10 kappa and is priced 1lakh more than i10
