Oh Boy!!!Oh Boy!!!

When Kartik asked to check the site tomo, I never expected this much. Awesomely awesome review(This is the best I could write, Need to improve on my vocab).

The content has been elaborated quite a lot. You could have elaborated more on the off roading experience.

Do split the paras in page 2. Also, split the cost part and the conclusion in page 7.

Page 5(Ride, Handling & Steering) could have been longer

I guess this is the first time that we had some many photos. The picture on page 2 is the best taken ever(Even Toyota may attempt to steal it). Quite a lot of patience and nice photos. Was it Vrushali or someone else?

City/Highway FE has been missing most of the time. Try to add it. A Tank to Tank method spanning a quarter of a tank should give a good result.

Kudos to Charles and the editorial team. Keep it up and way to go!!!

Now eagerly awaiting the new Estilo TD and some Head 2 Head's.

OT: Was it Rachit sitting in the car? Also was it taken somewhere on the Nasik highway?

Thanks for the review and its pretty much spot on.

The Fortuner is better compared with the RAV4 than the legendary Landcruisers or even the Prados.  Out here it is considered a slightly better version of the RAV4 (because it has better engine options than the RAV) and a bit of a soft-roader, but it should meet the needs of the occassional trail driver and limited off-roader quite well.

Yes the vehicle isnt very confidence-inspiring at high speeds (over 100 kmph) and my Safari feels much better planted on the roads as the speeds get higher, but then HOW OFTEN would you drive at those speeds on our roads and for how long?  Low-Medium speed ride and handling are extremely good.

I really wish they had provided better interiors, features and accessories for a 20-lakh vehicle, though.

@Ami: Glad you liked the photos. The book on photography that I purchased (and am going through) seems to be useful! Rachit and Kartik can be seen in a few of the shots.

@Steeroid: The RAV4 is based on a monocoque (first Corolla, then Celica) whereas the Fortuner is a load-carrying platform - a body-on-frame.

Doc Kishore

I am aware that it sits on a ladder frame - what I am speaking about is the general perception of the vehicle in this market (UAE) which I am sure will be very different from the perception in India.

I must say the vehicle somehow seems much bigger in India than it looks out here.  It does stand out pretty well and I'm sure with the magic equation of Presence + Diesel Engine + Toyota Reliability they have pretty much ticked all the right boxes in this market.

Wonderful Review and excellent pics. And as said, I too feel more was expected in this car than provided. Still a nice car to own.

Good work team.

Can someone explain how the post that was made by user "Dr Kishore" magically turned into a post by Charles just now?  I replied to a Dr Kishore's post and now I find that the poster's name has changed to "Charles".

That was my fault - I was listing Dr.Kishore's car and posted under his ID by accident. Never try to list a 210bhp Octavia, chat on a forum and try to listen to what your superior is saying during a meeting at the same time ;)

The Fortuner is quite large by India's standards - in the UAE and the US it wouldn't have so much presence.
