Charles I guess this was a quickie. It was way small compared to your other reviews. Yaar aise kanjoosi math karo. Wink

Jokes apart, Nice review. Unlike the other review I read today, you have mentioned the negative aspects also. Do post the figures.

How is the heat insulation from the engine to the cabin & How effective is the AC.

Last but not the least, India & Tata has got another feather in the hat. Kudos!!!!

Well rounded review !!

Few observations

-warranty for 18 months or 24,000kms - is reliability  also a 'nano'?

-15 liter fuel tank - imagine the queue of Nano's in the petrol bunks!

-LX is way too over priced-near 2 lacs on road!

-no mention of service schedules or number of free services.

-non adjustable seats in the lower spec versions may not be a good thing.

-single ORVM even on the LX-guess people able to afford tha model deserves two.

-the rev limiter would come into play a lot more frequently given the peppy nature of the car.

-would rather wait for 1-2 years and check the reliability and service possibilities and buy a second hand Nano for 50,000/- !!

Guys,

This is a first drive report and not full road test. CarWale will be testing the Nano in details, very soon.

Author of this review is not Charles. It's written by our Consulting Editor, Kartik Ganesh.

Kartik says, AC is quite effective.

There are four free services, if I am not wrong.

The NYtimes report on the cost cutting involved.

Apparently the wheel bearings are only designed for 70kmph!!Surprised

Binoy, I don't think any car manufacturer would make an elementary mistake like that.

Besides, Tata manufactures the Xenon XT. Rates the load bay at 200-odd kg, and has designed it for 550kg. Are these the same people you're talking about?

I am not talking about anything, just stating whats on a New York Times article(can be considered reliable i guess-what say).

Have a look here.

About the Xenon, well the 8.5lac truck does not share much with the 1 lac Nano i guess!!

Also there is no 'elementary mistake' - decision on component tolerances are taken by almost all volume car makers and the parts finally selected are actually a compromise on price and durability.

Well the article is dated at Jan 2008. I guess the Car was merely launched at the auto show. I feel that they have written this out of speculation.

I am not suling out the possibility, only time will be able to tell. coz you come to know about the problem only once it hits the road.
